Doodle Dude of Doom
I bought ep.2 bok yesterday. Very good. Not as good as the fil though, but you get to know more things in the book. E.g What happened between ep.1 and 2 and so on.
Kryllith
From a certain point of view. I've not read any of the novels (I know a lot about what happens from the various documentary style Star Wars books and from discussions of the series). I'm a purest, I guess, so I focus entirely on the canon of the movies. Though when Lucas has officially hung it up, I'll probably go ahead and read the books then. Jedi_Monk
I think the novel sucks! I only read the scene where Anakin and Padme have just arrived on the island retreat--but that was enough. As far as I'm concerned, Anakin was a cool, manipulative seducer who'd been formulating his plan to get Padme since he entered puberty You could see it in his kriffing eyes! The Anakin in the book is a stupid, giddy teenager who can't believe he's getting away with stroking a woman's back. Give me a break, Salvatore! Kryllith
Laugh! Sounds like what it would be like if Bud Bundy from Married with Children became a Padawan. Kryllith

Jedi_Monk
wait a minute.... this is the offical book So was the Return of the Jedi novelization... and Owen Lars is not Obi-Wan's brother! Unless the author has the Force and can read Lucas' mind, the novelizations will always be as far from canon as the rest of the SW books. It's like the Left Behind books vs. the Book of Revelation. The Book of Revelation is canon throughout Christianity--but the Left Behind books, though based on Revelation (or someone's twisted interpretation of Revelation ) is not Biblical Canon. Thus it is between the movies and the novelizations.
MotionMan
The books are not canon, even if its the movie novalization. It is not written by Lucas. This in no way implies that the book might not be good.
Kryllith
Besides, Salvatore killed Chewbacca so I can't read the new book. It's the principle you understand. Kryllith

I beleive that Lucas probably originally thought that as well, It's just that over the 20 or so years he has had time to put together a plot for the prequels (which, he probably did on some weekend close to release... judging by the scripts ) He changed all his former ideas. I mean, c'mon, the first draft of Star Wars he was called "Luke Starkiller" had half a million brothers, and knew who his father was. Lucas has got to change his mind in some parts, I don't understand the people who think that he has always had the same vision for the storyline of SW. Lucas probably told that author himself that Obi-wan is Luke's uncle.
Funnay Bunnay
What happened between ep.1 and 2 and so on. [/b] Read the book "Rogue Planet" Episode 1&ahalf.
Jedi_Monk
Read the book "Rogue Planet" Gah! Blech! That book's even worse than The New Rebellion... though slightly better than Children of the Jedi. Just for the record, Rogue Planet was the last SW novel I've read and turned me into the hard-edged EU-hater you see before you Now for Sub_Woofer... that is why the movies are all you can trust. That snip of dialogue was probably even in the RotJ script, but it didn't make it into the movie... and now in AotC, we see that Anakin and Owen really and truly are brothers in the canon. It proves only that even the things that Lucas might tell a novelization's author are susceptible to change in the films if Lucas so wishes. ET Warrior
You know, the part of the book i liked the least was the Jango obiwan fight on Kamino. I thought it was retarded how ObiWan kept trying to talk to Jango even though Jango didn't respond and only shot at him.....it upset me because it made Obiwan look stupid.. ET Warrior
Obiwan: "Jango, i need to capture you....so stop moving" *Jango shoots at obiwan, obiwan blocks the shots* ObiWan: "No, i'm serious, it's my job to capture you so.....sit still for a minute, okay?" *Jango shoots a rocket at obiwan* ObiWan: "You know, i've had about enough of you.....you just better stop it!" *Jango punches obiwan in the face* ObiWan: "Now you've gone too far mr. Fett. I seriously have to capture you so STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!" *Jango gets in slave 1 and flies away* Obiwan: "Damn, i almost had him that time...."
