yeah, there are supposed to be back up control stations on star destroyers. therefore if the main bridge was destroyed the ship wouldn't crash like it did:rolleyes:

Actually what you remember reading was that Wedge was the only pilot to survive two Death Star runs, if I'm on target with that, you read it in the first Wraith Squadron book, and it was when Ton Phanan asked Janson who he thought the best pilot was (if you haven't read that book I'm going to feel really stupid:()

Wedge and Lando both destroyed the Second Death Star.

Wedge destryed the Power Regulartor on the North tower then Lando finished it off.

Wedge got shot in the original Trench Run and left which got Biggs killed as he had no cover. You all know the rest of the story. Luke destroyed the Death Star Mark 1.

Wedge has 1 Death Star kill not 2.

Nope. Destorying the first Death Star only took one shot. It was a weakness in the design of the space station.

Wedge helped in it's destruction by protecting Luke before the actual attack on the exhaust post. He pulled out of that soon after it had started. Luke destroyed the Death Star. No one else. Everyone else more or less protected him even though there were few survivors (Wedge, a Y-Wing, Luke and The Falcon)

Yeah, but do you think Luke could've flown in there by himself and pulled that off.

[A single x-wing comes out of hyperspace]

Death Star Officer: Sir, we have a vessel on attack vector...

Grand Moff Tarkin: What is it?

Death Star Officer: Umm... it's an x-wing sir.

Grand Moff Tarkin: An x-wing?

Death Star Officer: Uhh, yes sir.

Grand Moff Tarkin: Set some fighters on it.

[one shot is fired, the x-wing disintergrates]

:deathstar

:vsd: :vsd: :vsd:

:x-wing:

Rebel Fleet Commander: Oh well, so much for the rebel alliance. If Luke couldn't do it, we're apparently all done for. Let's pack it up and head home.

Nah, it just didn't work that way.

Luke wasn't even supposed to make the trench run. The only two fighters that made it back from the first death star battle were Luke and Wedge (not counting Han, as he just came in on the Millenium Falcon at the end).

In the second death star battle, the only two that made it out of the inside of the death star were Lando in the Millenium Falcon, and Wedge, again in his x-wing.

Well if Tarkin wouldn't send out TIES to fight off 20 fighters why would he send some out to kill one!?

Note that I said, Wedge didn't destroy the first Death Star. He protected Luke.

Where in Star Wars lore, does it say Luke wasn't supposed to make the trench run!? Everyone was supposed to do the trench run until it was destroyed. But in order.

wedge survived both death stars and deverves at least a partial kill from both

to the person who said only 2 fighters survived each

3 survived the first (luke wedge ywing) plus the others that didnt trench run (i spose there must have been some) and the falcon

at least 2 survived the second (tycho celchu flew the a-wing into it and he survived) wedge .... and the falcon (not really a fighter but hey) i imagine more survived the outer battle

The film clearly shows the following escaping from the Death Star explosion.

2 X-Wings (Luke and Wedge)

1 Y-Wing

The Millenium Falcon.

That's all that escaped. A lot more escaped the Death Star II. You can see the whole fleet in orbit around Endor. Only Wedge and Lando escaped the Death Star II explosion from within. An A-Wing and another X-Wing left the Death Star before the reactor was destroyed, to draw some fighters away from Wedge and Lando.

I'm pretty sure that in the X-Wing book series [it's EU I know, but there was some discussion in this vein earlier] they mentioned in passing Wedge having 2 deathstar kills painted on his x-wing, meaning he was given acknowledgement for them both. [since he survived both runs.] If you've read the series, I believe it is in X-wing: Wraith Squadron when he inspects his X-Wing.

I don't really recognise EU at canon when referring to the films and I've never read the X-Wing series of books.

Thanks for the info though.
