silverwest Posted July 11, 2002 Posted July 11, 2002 I haven't played much MP, but when I've looked, all the maps listed for Internet play are the ones that come with the game. Why is that? Does it only list servers playing maps that I already downloaded or something? It makes me wonder if I would want to try making an MP map, if no one will ever play it.
Imran Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 No, the server browser displays all servers that play JK2, regardless of the maps, maybe you should refresh your server lists , or look for stuff like "custom maps in rotation" in the server name, a lot of servers play custom maps, but few play only custom maps
Kranckor Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 If you play CTF then Joezcool2 server plays nothing but custom over 13 ctf maps
Emon Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 Many servers do, the most common are duel servers that play the WLS duel pack. Some levels in it are great, some suck. I expect a bunch of CTF servers to use the WLS CTF pack, which has a CTF map made by Takimoto. I'll get the pack soley for that one map (because Taki rules). Anyways, the reason there aren't tons of servers using them is because lots of admins don't have bandwidth for autodownload, so a server with new maps and no autodownload often scares visitors away. If I ever get my duel server up, I garuntee to have tons of custom maps.
silverwest Posted July 12, 2002 Author Posted July 12, 2002 how do map packs come to be? are they done by websites that simply choose their favorites?
