Guest King Andrei
Oh, I recently watched Independence Day for the second time. If I remember correctly it was even on the 4th of July on TV.
Darth Groovy
How can you hate a movie with such memorable dialogue as "In the words of my generation, up yours!"? or classics like, "I'm baaaaaaack!"? or "We will not go out quietly into the night, we will not go out without a fight! Today we fight for our independence day!"? Spoken by a jock headed fighter pilot president who probably realizes he was better off as a winebago pilot in Spaceballs. Last but not least and certainly most important, the entire plot of the movie was stolen from Hg Well's "War of the Worlds". Rent it and you will understand where I'm coming from. Mercen4ry
War of the Worlds... let's see. Impenetrable Shields? Check. Goofy-looking fighter ships? Check. Virus that saves the day? Check. Hmmm, wait a minute, ID4 IS a rip-off of War of the Worlds. The only difference is ID4 doesn't have crappy color, got denied the help of the military for mentioning "Area 51" in the film, and had Will Smith and... I forget his name, as the lead characters. Other than that, the plot makes it a "modern" take on the old Technicolor classic.

You forgot about the nerd scientist that saves the day (insert:Jeff Goldblume), and the theory of the nomad civilazation consuming planets of all they're rescources.
