NerfYoda
Well they are critics. It's their job to find faults in movies.

SharaFett
anakin has his struggles with obi-wan and the counsil while his heart is leading him to palpatine. padme is caught in the middle of this. so in a way, padme is what escalates all of this and causes anakiin 2 bcum vader
X R Kun
the only thing i have against the love scenes is the lack of actual love making. I sure like to see padme getting screwed and moaning like a Bantha....
TKMaim
Both Anakin's were/are horrible actors. Great for action sequences, bad when they have to open their mouths...... Also GL tried to fit too much story into such a short time. EPI could have easily been 2 if not 3 movies by itself(although i'd have offed myself if I had to listen to Jake Loyd act for 3 movies). The love story is only there to tie everything together. If they had more time (more movies) I think GL could have done more with the dialog. The love story in EPII reminds me of the love story in Dune. It's rushed, and only used to tie the story together. Unfortunately in EPII it detracts from the quality of the movie, where in Dune you could just forget it happened. Just my 2 bits....
Lord_FinnSon
Well, first of all, I remember a "little" scene in TPM where Anakin asks Padme, if she is an angel. Then next thing we hear in AOTC is all those Shakesperian lines delivered by Anakin. So, how I see this whole debate about "lousy, forced romance" is the fact that Anakin has always had romanticed view about love and he lacks the charm and experience of Han Solo who was a real womanizer(even in the cantina scene there was originally going to be woman sitting next to Solo when Obi and Luke come in) before he met Leia. Maybe he reads poetry in the Jedi library when he isn't driving speeder or making his master grazy. Also, what makes these "badly written" lines acceptable in general is the fact that they are said "a long time ago in a galaxy far far way", and romance between Anakin and Padme is forbidden and doomed to end tragically making it VERY similar to that one in Romeo and Juliet. TKMaim
OK, maybe I should clarify myself somewhat. I don't think that the dialog was that bad. GL did what he could in the time allowed and managed to get the point across. My complaint was the acting ability of Anikin 1 and 2. Both were horrible actors. They could have easily come up with a better actor for the parts. Come to think of it Mark Hammil wasn't the best actor either so maybe it runs in the family, and that's what GL wanted.... Who knows?!?! I still love the movies and they are still my all-time favorites, but I still believe GL could have done better than the Ani's....... Myst
I'm not kidding here, but EPII's love scenes were **** because padme and ani are using british and american accents. It makes it confusing as well as unnatural, so that is where some of the critics criticize the acting. If they just had those two characters use their normal accents (from those in real life), it would have been a lot better. Think of luke, han or leia? none had english accents. For good reason - they could act very naturally since they were used to that tone of voice. Myst
Revan Bakr'
Yeah I agree, Solo is a womanizer. But he was so funny to watch in TESB on Hoth. Han:"Who's scruffy-looking?" and other lines.
