Jedi Apprentice
I was reading A new Hope a few days ago and noticed some small things 1. When Obi-Wan gives Luke Anakin's lightsaber Obi-Wan says tese are only used in certain galactic quarters. Does that mean...there are other Jedi's still alive? he's just talking about Vader? 2. After the cantina fight Han tells Obi that hes good with the saber and he hasn't seen that type of swordplay in this part of the galaxy...has he seen other people fight with lightsabers? 3.(the dumb one) whenever luke and everyone is in the garbage compactor why doesnt he just whip out his lightsaber and get some Qui-Gon action going on? Thanks to anyone that replies.

Question 3. Luke left his light saber on the milinium falcon. He doesnt have it when he is sneaking around the death star.

Jedi Apprentice
I was just wondering where you found that out about Luke and his saber because if its from a book or something I need to get that. Thanks again
MotionMan
I dont read the novelizations of the movies but I know that George Lucas doesnt write them. Does it say "by: george lucas" or "Written by George Lucas" on the cover or inside? Or just "based on star wars ANH by george Lucas"?

Thanks again I read it somewere. I think it was in the questions section of the SW insider with Vaders face on the cover from a few months back. Plus if you look at his utility belt when Luke is running around the death star rescuing Lei you dont see his light saber on his belt at any time. Darth Kaan
As for #3, Luke had just strted lightsaber training and he probably didnt think to use it on a metal door. Plus it was not in the script.
ET Warrior
Plus, he did not have it with him... You can see it after they got out of the garbage masher. Luke and Han are strapping their stolen stormtrooper belts to their normal clothes...luke has not his saber with him.
Shadow Angel
Originally posted by Jedi Apprentice Im not talking about from the adventures of Luke Skywalker...im talking about star Wars: A new Hope by George Lucas....the real deal. The novel of A New Hope, which came out a year or so before the movie, had the subtitle "From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker." That was because at that time, Lucasfilm didn't have Episode IV: A New Hope pasted on the opening crawl (I think, I didn't live back then.) And yes, the novel does have George's name on it, but it's ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster.
