Why the Commando raid on the Droid Control Ship was cut.

Yeah it really sucks they cut that scene out! Aayla Secura had most of her footage in that scene!Grr!

I did hear however that this scene was filmed, stunted and the special effects completed, so it could be on the DVD. If not as a scene integrated in the movie, as an extra part in cut scenes. :)

Though honestly I understand their argument sbut I feel it was not the best decision.

They cut the Attack on the Droid Control Ship in favor of the Droid foundry scene and more footage of C3PO and R2-D2 (who were originally set to stay put in Padme's ship but Anthony Daniels wanted a bigger part). They were afraid the Attack on the Droid Control Ship would slow the pace of the Arena battle down too much.

Result:

- The Droid foundry scene is good, entertaining but truly useless, it has no plotline importance whatsoever. (Rather unbelievable the Geonosians would allow a ship to land, people without clearance to enter their factories ...)

- C3PO & R2-D2's bigger parts have no plotline use whatsoever either and in my opinion, though funny yes, their scenes definately did disrupt the pace of the Arena battle. (So what they feared the Attack on the Droid Control Ship scene would do still occured through C-3PO & R2-D2's scenes.)

- The cut Attack on the Droid Control Ship would have showed us Jedi in action and though I love AOTC I think the Arena battle and Dooku vs Yoda, Anakin, Obi-Wan battle were all cut too short.

(Please LOTR was 3 hours long, their battles epic, GL you can do this! Go GL, go GL! Longer battles! Put that footage back!) So more Jeid in action would be great, perhaps even necessary because now they were mopped up pretty fast.

- Cutting the Attack on the Droid Control Ship makes Mace Windu and the Jedi look like terrible tacticians. Any good tactician knowing he would travel to a planet where there's a big risk to run into a droid army or battledroids would dispatch a task force or keep one at hand to strike at their control center. (The Droid Control Ship.) Putting this scene back in would show basic planning & logic on the part of the Jedi.

(Some people are even saying Mace Windu's into Darth Sidous' conspiracy and did this on purpose, so it might not be bad to put this scene back. Get some respect for our BMF Jedi Master back. :D))

- Putting the Attack on the Droid Control Ship back would actually ad more pace to the Arena battle by showing Jedi like Aayla Secura, Plo Koon and Ki-Adi Mundi in action.

(If it's worth it to put in Kit Fisto force pushing the C3PO/battledroid and smiling afterwards I think footage of Aayla Secura, Plo Koon and Ki-Adi Mundi in action would be more than worth it ... besides we didn't see much of Shaak Ti or Luminara Undulli either ... the Arena battle should be much longer.)

Well just my thoughts. :)

Don't worry people, ther is going to be lots of stuff on the DVD.

Look at the planet Of The Apes DVD, it has exellent special features, so Star Wars will have the same.

Oh crap, I just remembered, The Mummy DVD was out before SW DVD, so how come The Mummy had MORE Special Features, CRAP.

Damn you, you and you posts, now I am going to be worried about the SW DVD release, my thoughts can be a lethal weapon.

I don't see why that implies that it won't be in the DVD; a lot of the cutscenes that were included in the SW1 DVD didn't have finished special effects and were completed just for the DVD release. I'd love to see the Droid Control Ship fight and a Jedi spacebattle!
