Eklin Posted July 29, 2002 Posted July 29, 2002 Two questions: 1. Does anybody know how combat will work in this game? Will it be like JK2 and you have to aim and click (or, with the saber, move all over for different attacks)? Or will it be like Diablo2 and Dungeon Siege, and you just click on the enemy and you start attacking? 2. How will movement work? Again, will it be like JK2, and you use WASD to move, and the mouse to look around, or will it be like Diablo2 and Dungeon Siege, where you point and click, and then you move?
Com Raven Posted July 29, 2002 Posted July 29, 2002 point and click, but you trigger special moves yourself... movement: I expect both to be possible...
Eklin Posted July 29, 2002 Author Posted July 29, 2002 Sorry. I didn't quite understand the "point and click" part, since both methods basically use point and click. Do you mean like Diablo2, or like JK2?
Com Raven Posted July 29, 2002 Posted July 29, 2002 NWN, or Diablo point and click, but you trigger special stuff in between....
Eklin Posted July 29, 2002 Author Posted July 29, 2002 Ah. I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I personally prefer games more like JK2, but after playing Dungeon Siege, I got back into the RPG genre. So hopefully KotOR will turn out to be another great RPG style game.
Com Raven Posted July 30, 2002 Posted July 30, 2002 cool, someone beside me who liked Dungeon Siege...
Ewok Hunter Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 was DS really a true RPG, I thought that it was sort of like D2 with more units:confused:
Com Raven Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 well, ppl say Diablo II is a rpg, so DS is one as well plus, I liked it much more... looks great, plus a great score by mny favourite composer...
FunClown Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 So will we be able to use WASD or not? I havn't played BG or NWN so I don't know how they work or if they are still fun without WASD.
Com Raven Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 in NWN, you can run around with wasd, but mouse is much smoother... but I think they'll have to have that kind of movement on the xbox anyways...
Ewok Hunter Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 wasd is useful in NWN to get out of walls sometimes. but beyond that it is preatty much useless. *shudder* having to manually control you character through the whole game, Reminds me of MI4 ugh.
Com Raven Posted August 25, 2002 Posted August 25, 2002 hmm, I was very disappointed with D II when it was first released..
Longjocks Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 I played Diablo 2 for about two hours when I first got it. I played it about once or twice after for about ten minutes. It just didn't grab me.
DeathSyte Posted September 11, 2002 Posted September 11, 2002 hm...im still kinda confused (cough...im slow) um...so im walkin around(with the wasd buttons) and i see someone do i.... A. point the mouse the him and it attacks by itself...or B. I run all the way up to him and start slashing him and attacking with buttons.
Ewok Hunter Posted September 11, 2002 Posted September 11, 2002 if it's anything like previous Bio games it would be A.
DeathSyte Posted September 11, 2002 Posted September 11, 2002 kinda a let down for me but im still gonna get it.....i liked D2 and DS anyways
Com Raven Posted September 11, 2002 Posted September 11, 2002 yeah well, it should be just like DS...
Eklin Posted September 13, 2002 Author Posted September 13, 2002 Well, if it DOES turn out to be quite similar to Dungeon Siege, I think that once I finish my Resident Evil Siegelet (if I ever get the tools I need to even START it), I'll just go ahead and make my own version of KoTOR for DS.... that is, if I have any success with my RE siegelet. If not, I'll either get better, or I'll leave the sieging to someone with more experience.
Com Raven Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 a RE siegelet ? that's an, well, exotic idea to be sure...

Well, I'm not entirely sure I'm going to go through with it. First I've gotta download all the tools (but I can't do that right away since I'm running on a 28.8 kbs modem, so it'll take forever), then I've gotta master the Siege Editor and learn how to model and use Skrit. Of course, there's a lot of tutorials out there for all of this, so it shouldn't be TOO hard.
Com Raven Posted September 21, 2002 Posted September 21, 2002 yeah, Siege university is pretty good...
