here's my 2 cents on the saber options, in order of preference (w/ criticisms):

 

1) the regular lightsaber upside it would be *BLEEP* awesome. i know there are sw characters who do use the saber upside down, so this could be cool for other people to use. however, it would seem that certain moves wouldn't work if the saber's flipped ... dfa, light stance lunge, medium finisher, etc. i'd say GO FOR IT just as long as it wouldn't make using it difficult (i.e. attacking, blocking).

 

2) the blade from HALO would work for the obvious reason that the covenant elite are in HALO and it would look more "natural." however, i'm not familiar with HALO at all, so i don't know what the blade looks like. and at the same time, wouldn't there need to be some kind of mod so that he'd actually use it?

 

3) the regular lightsaber held normally would obviously fit into the game well ... everybody would be using them. this would be the opposite of #2 above ... would it look "right" if a covenant elite were wielding a lightsaber? i dunno.

 

whatever way you choose, it's YOUR model, you do what you want. the model looks incredible ... can't wait to see it skinned.

Well all worked well, he stabs down in red DFA, the lunge is fine, back stab (strangely) backstabs..it works fine believe it or not

the problem is guns however, the guns are err...upsidedown;p

is a much smaller one, but you can see the saber 'model'

 

in a sense i can do it easily, just like the ninjasword hilt, but it wouldnt

A) be useful if the saber was off, even tho shader wise etc i could make the glow and all, it still would have no use if it was glowing and all, until the saber was actually turned on (then again ppl rarely turn it off)

B) the saber wouldn't do as much damage (its an instant kill in HALO)

C) the saber is big, but it would act just on the regular physics of a beam now the big funky thing

 

 

nonetheless :)

 

 

I still cannot work out the arm through the arm issue

 

if I make the shoulder blades on the sides of the neck move, then they will clip the neck horribly and that solves the arm problem

 

if I dont and just the arm and the edges of armor that touches the arm, then in extreme cases the arm bleeds through..

 

its a give or take, but playing it isnt that bad

 

My next problem is sounds and I've been kind of dumb not contacting Darth_xhan as much as I'd like, i rarely see him for some reason sigh:|

 

But sounds would be very useful, and Jedimod 1.2 will have multiple taunts (:)..so that isn't a problem either, and client side scaling as well!..

I would do the upside down thing, but put the behavior in a seperate zip file, so purists won't be upset.

 

He's an alien. Plus, who's gonna tell him how to hold the weapon?

I would have given him some mouth capability hell even made the animation for opening and closing in taunts, but

A) cant make aniamtions:P

B) no mouth animations used in multiplayer (well jedimod, but thats just nodding)

C) its 2 models

one will have it so its open, the other closed, so you could select it

it works fine too:)

 

just one skin will draw it open and one will draw it closed (both are included)

If Arco could do it that would be hella tight.. (don't forget to mention the extra green and brown/yellow schemes ;) )

 

looks someone is as picky as me.. :lol: His torso is just fine. And I've already ranted enough about the head.. I like Spikes on both arms... and some of teh elites have them on both (Maw) so it's all good.

 

I'm working on getting the sounds from Halo.. It's moving slower than I thought because the Elites aren't cooperating very well :lol:;) As for me, Pitchshifting, sample reversing, is going A-OK, and I've been yelling my ass off into a mic... rofl.. I even do it in the car at people I pass.. ;) But I want totake the time toget it perfect, so please bear with me.. Also in addition to the sounds I put up, do you guys want any other sounds to go in, for whatever reason?

So I'll be gone for today and tomorrow, working on my last bits of homework.

 

I'm basically done with the model, im sending it to CovenantElite/PIo Koon later tonight to review it, then I have to maybe add LODs, and send it the skins to Arco tonight as well. The only problem is arm clipping, I have no solution:| the arm goes through through the armor, and the only real method would employ rebuilding the mesh, we must understand the the mesh was crated that a humanoid body in mind would be in place, with clothing, not armor or as such. And if any armor, very little, not a huge chunk like the Covenant's :p

 

Nonetheless he plays fine, the poll is still up, should he have an upside saber or not?

I've added arm caps and other caps as well, he's all set to go, Arco I'll talk to you later;)

lol Agent J...i know a sollution...merge some of the verts that are on his arm inside his body...there wasted faces anwyay

 

also...he should have a regular saber...its going to **** everything up..and if someone makes a beamsword..itll be upside down...it should be right side up

I've completed the Covenant Elite

working on the Covenant Grunt

I have a problem!

How to model small? Should I find no solution I will just have to shrink the skeleton :p and if that doesnt work i can always resize...real simple;)

 

nonetheless any help in solving how to model small would be greately appreciated

 

 

if I made the skeleton small would it still compile? any one know?

Judging by the constraints I can't find a good solution

 

At least with Yoda a cloak could hide the legs

 

Here I can't

 

my 2 problems

 

A) the legs are ¡Ç shaped, most human legs are | or \ in this case at a 15.5 degree angle from vertical for jk2..

Now that isn't a problem on itself, theorticially i could just model it outside the constraints of the bones and the bones when they move forward, would my verts forward (i don't know of any side to side animations with the bones of legs in mp)

 

B) the torso is big, if I just gigantic modeled it like Kinja, where its actually real big so you can size it down, that would mean the torso would come up to the femurs at most.. the problem there is if the leg moves forward how will the torso->leg area react? since he has no femurs..just horizontal..things...

 

 

its confusing but I'll do it nonetheless;)

hey everyone

 

personally i don't think im good enough to start on a player model thats 100% my work and didn't get help from anyone

 

BUT...i need a model as a learning experience and AgentJ isnt going to make him...so i decided to try and see what i could come up with

 

i am going to make the Covenant Hunter...plz note that this picture is VERY EARLY BETA..sod on't get ur hopes up..but heres 30 minutes of work
