do we have all we need?

after reading posts on numerous jk2 forums, I'm surprised to hear that the general jk2 community is not happy with the current set of resources for mod making. Now this baffles me, as I thought the SDK was released, I know nothing about modding, but I do know that the SDK is quite vital. So what is missing?. Halflife has been going for yonks with a constant stream of mods for both SP and MP. Is it possible JK2 will get its level, or do we need more tools/source code ect. ?

Well, at the moment we can't make any new animations which is somewhat limiting. I don't really care about making a cool pole vaulting animation, but it's annoying to have to build weapon models according to the models that are already in jk2 (because you cannot change the position of the hands when the player is holding your weapon)...

If you want to help us get the raw format of the animations (so they can be editted) go to http://www.petitiononline.com/jk2raw/petition.html .

I know, SilentMobius found out about adding animation frames to the XSI - which when processed through assimilate would give you a glm and a gla.

But if you were to add new animations using that method, you would have to remake all of the old animations (which as you already know is a LOT). And new creatures/cutscenes are probably going to be useful for a mod with a single player component rather than one which is multiplayer only - and we haven't got the single player source code, so a single player mod would only have so much depth.
