I have no respect for the Oscars. It's all one giant popularity contest... Lord of the Rings was an incredible movie like nothing seen before (until SW2) and it didn't win any of the principal Oscars... just crappy technical awards. Ian McKellen WAS Gandalf... forgive me, but I think that playing someone who is beloved by millions of people who all come with their preconceived notions and pulling it off to the satisfaction of many of them... assuming the part of someone who never existed and will never exist... I think doing that is alot harder than playing some random slice-of-life character. Ian McKellen and Lord of the Rings and Peter Jackson were ripped off. SW2 will be ripped off, too.

I didn't care much about the Oscars either way but the year that Titanic won all those awards I was not happy, because in my opinion that movie just plain SUCKED! My hatred towards the oscars grew when LOTR didn't win, and of course Episode 2 has no chance of being nominated for best picture which is a real SHAME($10 bucks says My Big fat Greek Wedding wins it). I pretty much much don't watch any awards shows because as Jedi_Monk stated it's all a popularity contest. One more example of an awards show Travesty is How come The Simpsons has never won or even been nominated for an emmy for Best Comedy!

Boy, I didn't think I had that much to say.
