ok, please, i want to become a REALLY good skinner, so feel free to give me your thoughts. dont hold back. also, i made this face in about 15 min, from the wireframe, and this is my FIRST EVER attempt on a face from scratch, it isnt supposed to be anyone, just a practice face. it also is nowhere near finished, (i probably wont) so that is why he isnt as detailed as i would do a regular skin. I also have been skinning for aobut 4 days and want to continue and eventually work on models in the future. thnx :) (also, i used NO refernce pics)

1 problem i have is that i can make wrinkles and such, but on younger people, the faces dont look as defined, should i still use wrinkles and stuff to accent their cheeks and such? or just define the shadows, but make them thinner? i would really like some advise from some expert skinners :) because i would REALLY like to skin some models in the future, and become really well known :)

Hi,

Well i only just started skinning a few days ago also, and ive done a EVIL LANDO skin, which im gonna release pretty soon to in the skin files on this site, i think it looks good for a first skin, id add a pic, but still dont know how to do it here....and i dont wanna release it yet till i find out how to do a custom taunt (im having probs with that, it just aint workin.... ???)

Anyway, when i was doing this skin, my lando has no shirt....now when i was doing his skin color it looked fine to me, but when i saw it in game, he was a white dude, with a black guys head.. lol

So try and darken things a fair bit, cause in game when your character is in light , its really bright. Of course the bad side is, if its a dark guy like mine, when their not in the light you can hardly see them.

Bottom line (In my opinion) try to darken it more. What ever you want to stand out anyway..

And what program are you using?? i got Adobe Photoshop 6, and it has some great features...... use layers when puting on different colors, cause if you make a mistake , its easy to just get rid of that layer and not have to redo the whole damn thing..

GOODLUCK MAN

I've done plenty of faces before, so I'll give you a run-down of what's going on so far. At least you are working from scratch, and not modifying an already existing face texture.

First off, I don't see any anatomy going on in that face. No eyelids, no nostrils (no nose for that matter), and no structure at all in the mouth (looks like really flat lipstick). There also does not appear to be any light hitting the face.

Here are a few flats that show some of the detail put into the skin:

Lady Justice

Count Dooku

Classica

Crakho

Skywarp

Yojimbo
