Eldritch
It's also possible that your compile isn't finishing due to a leak. Check the junk.txt file to see if it's compiled properly. -Anakin
derbra1513
ya its Radiant. and i cant find the junk text i went to my documents and even serched evry file in my computer. NOW ANOTHER PROBLEM ACCURED! when i went to open my map it couldnt find any textures except one sky texture:mad: BAH!
Tigris
I don't know under what name JK2Radiant saves (if it does) the output of the compile, but try searching your computer for a file that has "new.bsp" in it- you should find a text file- or even your new.bsp- for the textures, either you have put them in the wrong directory OR you should try to put everything in a pk3 file. One other thing: Are you accessing your bsp through "devmap" or normal "map" (eg. typing in the console: map new or devmap new ?)- I had the problem once that it didn't apply any textures when using the devmap command- dunno if that was only because of my wiered JK2 or if that is a common problem. Tigris
Ok, so one of the shaders you are using is broke- did you create any new ones? Or did you include any new shaders to your shaderlist.txt?
derbra1513
not thati know of. but when i started a new map and i went to the textures tab 1 texture was there when there was usualy 15-20 and when i tries GTk that just froze when i tried to make a shape another thing that i think might be a problem is that i have 13000 some lights? It sounds like you have a bad install of JK2, GtKRadiant, or both (if your textures aren't working like you say). Try uninstalling then reinstalling them. Also make sure that GtKRadiant is directed to the correct filepath for your JK2 files. And if your room was BRIGHT that probably means it's too small. It's a fairly common problem that can be fixed by making the room larger or adding more things inside of it. -Anakin
derbra1513
Thank You well thats may solve the lighting problem but what about the textures. As far as i know i never created any textures they were just there but when I logged off then on again the textures were gone and now my map looks horrible how do i get the textures back? Eldritch
I told you in my last post how to get the textures back. Uninstall both Outcast and Radiant (but don't delete your .map file for the level you're working on), then RE-install them. That should get the textures back. If they don't come back automatically where you placed them on the map, you'll have to re-texture the map. -Anakin
derbra1513
Still cant get the bsp. to work so i did it on my bros comp but i want to know how to get the textures back i uninstalled both JK2 and Radiant.
derbra1513
Another reason is i dont know were the textures are located. They dont only not show up in the game. derbra1513
ok im a little bit relived in JK2 Radiant the textures show up as blue and black squares but in JK2 outcast the textures show up as normal how can i fix this?
Flamehart
Hey I'm sort of having the same problem about it not making a .bsp with my Radiant too. And how do you check for leaks? Anyway, as I said, my GTK Radiant wont make a .bsp either, please help.
Eldritch
If you're not getting a .bsp, you most likely have a leak in your map. To check for leaks, load the pointfile (this option is found in the File menu) and view your map from the side or front view. Leaks will then appear as fat red lines. Possible causes for leaks include badly split or cut brushes, which are mostly caused by the Devil (or as he's known in GtK Radiant, the 'CSG Subtract' button). -Anakin

-Chrono_MOT-
OK. There's 3 problems that I see. 1.) There is a leak in your map. Use JK2Radiant, and it will give you that big fat red line showing you exactly where the leak is. Just follow it all the way to the hook, go into 3d view and trace it. It will show you your leak. 2.) You have a brush that has too many faces/vertices. Check your brushes. It seems as if you beveled one, OR you manipulated one's vertices and messed it up badly. 3.) Copy you .MAP file and rename it to cojtemple.bsp - sometimes JK2Radiant needs the previous file there in order to finish compiling. I had this same problem (because I deleted mine to test something) and it fixed it by having it there. 4.) If you ever get it to work, use GTK for map building. Only use JK2 for troubleshooting. Hope this helps.
derbra1513
I dont quite understand how to fix the problem? and how do you trace? Basicly how can you fix it?
-Chrono_MOT-
You mean you don't understand the leak? Check the outermost walls of your map (basically, what surrounds your map if it is an exterior location). If it's interior, check every wall. The easy way to do this is to compile with JK2Radiant. It will draw a big-fat red line pointing to the leak itself. Everywhere there is a leak, the red line will go. You've seen this red line yourself judging from your posts. Just follow it, note where the leak is at, then find the next. Afterwards, zoom as far in on the brush as you can and make sure that the edges are touching another edge, instead of nothing. This will fix any leak you have.

derbra1513
HOLY F***ING S**T:D :D YOU FIXED IT YIPEEEEEEEEEE!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. But sadly something else is wrong. I made the map on my bros comp then i put it on a disk and transfered it to my computer on my brothers comp. I could preview the textures but when I use it on my Comp. evrything comes up as blue and black squaresand i only get 1 texture skies how do i get them back? -Chrono_MOT-
Are they custom textures, or textures used by the game itself? If they are custom, you need to have them in your gamedata/base/textures directory or they will not show up at all. If they are default, compile your map and see if you can see them in-game. If you can, you should have no problems. Otherwise, go to Textures, make sure Show Shaders is checked. Then, go to Texture Rendering and click on any kind of linear filtering. That should allow you to see some textures. If you are still not seeing any textures, then you are doing something wrong. Also, some shaderboxes will not show up. If you're ever in doubt load up a set of shaders from bespin (which should always be there). If the textures load, then it's just a shaderbox problem, and will not affect your map in any way.
