Clefo
I wake up this morning, turn on me computer (I am on my mom's currently before you ask), and I get this blue screen that says, in white text, UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME I tried restarting in safe mode and various other modes but it still didn't work! Help! I'm using Windows XP on that one if it helps
Boba Rhett
Your boot.ini file is all fudged up. Here's what you do, You can boot to the XP CD and when you see the Welcome to setup press the letter R. You will go to a dos prompt. Type in "chkdsk /p" without the quotes and hit enter. When that is done type "fixboot" and hit enter "Y" and enter at the prompt Then type "exit" and hit enter The system will now reboot into Windows If that doesn't work, you can boot to the recovery console like above and type "chkdsk /r" then enter When done type "exit" and hit enter. This will take longer, but the system should boot back into Windows.
Clefo
How do I boot to the XP CD?
Eets
If it's anything like the Win98 CD, you put it in before shutdown, then turn your computer off and turn it back on again. It should give you the option to run the OS or OS install through the CD.
Clefo
"After shutdown"? Eh I can't even get INTO windows much less shut it down
Eets
Windows doesn't have to run for you to get the CD into your CD Drive. Just as long as the power supply is running (or the computer is turned on) so that you can open the CD Drive tray door and insert the CD.

Sherack Nhar
To boot with your WinXP CD: Enter your BIOS, and find the boot sequence order. Set the CD-ROM as the first device to boot. Save the settings and exit. Then start your computer with the WinXP CD in it. From there, you should be able to run the repair Windows option. To enter BIOS, press the DEL key after you push the power button until you're in it.
