Jedi_Monk
between this place and the Wheel of Time boards I used to hang out on. Just the way people react and the way they focus their debates, comments and criticisms. On the Wheel of Time boards, we focus on the characters within the stories; if a character says or does something stupid, we blame the character. Here, people are quick to blame Lucas. We hate Egwene because she's a stuck-up fool with way too much power and who thinks she knows everything. We hate her on the basis of her character, and the psychological profile we've interpreted through the books. Here, with Anakin's (admittedly pathetic) pickup lines, we blame Lucas... we don't blame Anakin for being a lovelorn spaz who doesn't know what the heck he's doing but has this ultra-romanticized vision in his head (trust me, when you're in love with a girl that you haven't seen for years, you replay what you think you'll say and how you think she'll react thousands of times in your head... and you can come up with some pretty "spaztic" things). Does the fact that Wheel of Time is a book series and Star Wars is a movie franchise really make such a big difference in the way we look at things? ckcsaber
Why would you hate Egwene on the basis of her character and not Robert Jordan for making her that way? No matter what the book or the movie it's the creator who makes all those things you like or dislike not the creation.
JediNyt
Lucas is a genius. I dont critizize him for the characters he makes. What in the Force says everyone has to like every character? Were not supposed to like em all. Some we are supposed to hate. Do you like Palpatine? I mean really do you like who he is? No I dont. Most people dont. Hes evil and vile and horrible! Other characters arent meant to be particularly liked or disliked. Just like all people are. Jar Jar Binks is liked and disliked by many people. Hes an opinion character. I like some of his quirks and hes funny to watch sometimes. Thats my take on him. Some people see Han Solo as a scoundrel. I think hes a badass hero. See what I mean? ET Warrior
I think that we should be upset with anakin for being stupid and not George. Star Wars is a very real thing to me....sort of, so when i'm watching a movie i never once think of acting or directing or whatnot.

Qui-Gon Jinn 64
I think Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in the prequels is great! Ian McDiarmid is amazing, and some of the lines, plus the way they are delivered, are superb. I like him, he is great. Don't blame Lucas, he is God. I think it's the actors who mess up lines. I mean, Anakin's pick-up lines from AOTC would be alright if they were said with feeling, but Hayden Christensen simply drones them out, monosylabilic, no feeling at all. That's what makes them drastically rubbish. As for C-3PO and Jar-Jar Binks, they are alright if you look at them from a child's point of view: after all, the comical side of Star Wars is aimed at the ten-year-olds, and Jar-Jar proved this when all the kids loved him, starting to speak like him, buying the action figures, school bags, lunchboxes, computer games and Lego models. It's only really the adult Star Wars fans (like me), who want to get down to the tiny details, the lightsaber duels and the real plotlines, that find Jar-Jar an annoying obstruction. I'm still looking forward to Jar-Jar's death in Episode III, though... slice that stupid Gungan clean in two, that's what I say!

HEY i collect starwars lego I'm still looking forward to Jar-Jar's death in Episode III, though... slice that stupid Gungan clean in two, that's what I say! i can't see him dying, especially as this movie will also be aimed at 10 year olds, it cant be too much DEATH DEATH DEATH all the time. heh, i can just see it now, all the kids leaving the cinema crying. ha ha
Qui-Gon Jinn 64
No offense on the LEGO front, Purple_Tentacle, I was just trying to fill several lines with Jar-Jar Binks products! I don't think Episode III will hold up on the death, however, because we need to see 10,000 Jedi Knights wiped out by the Sith Lords! I think one little Gungan won't make any difference (plus he needs to die).
Darth Kaan
We will see what Lucas decides to include in the movie. Based on his track record, much will most likely be left to simple explaination. The biggest factor will be where it actually starts in relationship to the ending of EP2 and where it ends in relationship to EP4. "How many years after AOTC ends will EP3 begin and will EP3 end years before EP4 or right before it begins? What do you think?
JediNyt
I read what appeared to be an official SW movie timeline in the news paper right after Ep2 entered theaters. Ep1---10 years---Ep2---2 years---Ep3---20 years---Ep4---3 years---Ep5---1 year---Ep6. Makes sense to me.
