Purple_Tentacle
Well it’s all up to how "balance" is interpreted. Some people say it means equal numbers of Jedi to Sith. It could also be the chosen one finding a balance inside him-self. (i.e. Luke using the dark side to defeat Vader) Could balance be brought to the force by destroying the Sith, who are more of an infection that unbalances the force, when the sith is gone the force is happy / balanced. In your scenario the force is unbalanced at the end of episode 6. And if the Jedi council thought Anakin would bring balance when the scales are tipped in THEIR favour why would they let him be trained ?!?! PowerBroker
Actually, I interpreted balance to be the eradication of the Sith, and the establishment of the New Republic.
Plo_Koon_27
i don't think that anikin was the chosen one go back to rotj and listen to what obi wan tells luke "myself and yoda knew that anikin's offspring would be very powerfull and that the emporer would try to twist them to his ways" now if you look at it at the end of rotj the force balances out when luke finally becomes a jedi and another thing luke brings back the jedi order and there is no longer any sith. <<<< very logical thinking if you look at it and think about it. i put it to you all: who is the chosen one? luke or anikin? ET Warrior
Anakin is the chosen one anyway that you look at it. he eliminated all jedi, leaving the numbers of jedi to sith at 2 to 2 if you look at it that way, but he also killed the emperor and came back to the light completely wiping out the sith in the universe. JediNyt
Of course hes the chosen one. No debate needed. Even though Luke played a big part hes not the chosen one. Ani brought balance.

If Anakin hadn't eliminated the Sith, Luke would be dead. Luke is only able to build a new Jedi Order because Anakin balanced the force.
