adding verticies in gmax

when i was modeling in milkshape, you could place verticies, then connect them to create faces. in gmax, i have to create a plane, convert it to a mesh, then delete the plane and add the verticies. is there anyway that i can create the verticies without first creating a plane? thanks

Hmmm... If you are editing an existing object, you can of course just add vertices under edit mesh->vertex->create.

 

If you have a blank scene and just want to insert an object of some sort, then yes, you have to create some sort of geometry to start working with.... :D
