BCanr2d2
There is currently a DDOS - Distributed Denial Of Service attack on the DALNet IRC servers, which seems to be bringing down some of the root DNS servers on the internet as we speak. Not a virus, just a royal pain in the butt caused by hell raising idiots who should be locked up. It's the internet equivalent of causing a traffic jam deliberately. I think if you search on either http://www.ntfs.org or http://www.warp2search.net it will show the affected sites by the DDOS attack...

matt--
It's not a dalnet ddos or anything like that. It's like Code Red that it effects a microsoft service(MsSQL) and spreads to others. The reason your interent wasn't working is because the worm also ddos's the internet's root DNS servers...I think it brought down 5 out of 13. BCanr2d2
Apparently, this security flaw has a patch, or MS has made note of it, but very few actually apply the patch/change of settings that is suggested.... Before everyone goes and bags MS, it seems that the SQL server admins should get their affairs in order...
