wannadie
QUESTION #1 In my map the walls are jagged & the sky and ground are flat horizontal. I was thinking how to fit the sky & ground. Its either one of these ways: (1). Should I just put 1 long rectangle brush over the tops of the walls for the sky & 1 long rectangle brush under the bottoms as the ground? Thing is there would be lots of overhangs this way with the textured sky overhanging the tops of the walls into the void in some areas. or (2). Build the sky & ground from separate brushes that fit neatly into the jagged walls for the sky & ceiling. This would have no overhangs, but would need lots more brushes. I hope this is clear. QUESTION #2 I also want to put fog under the sky so you cant see the sky and fog on top of the ground so you cant see that either. So I have to ask: 1). Should I do it with large brushes that cover everything like (1). above? or 2) Heaps of small fitting brushes like (2). above?
Eldritch
Question # 1 : Go with option 1. It will be better overall. Question # 2 : Neither. That much fog will destroy the framerate, and besides, what's the point of using a sky for Question #1 if you're just going to cover it up with fog? Shadriss
Another option you might explore, and one I use myself for this kind of area is to make one BIG box, ,and make all the "jagged edges" detail brushes, then apply the sky shader to the sky and the ground texture to the ground. Helps framerate, and speeds compile times.
