-=Arkaine=-
who will win?
Clemme w/Stick
I would say Shaq. I believe that his routine and size would win it for him. If we're talking freethrows Yao would win easily, Shaq just can shoot freethrows, even though his percentages has gotten better the last few years... -Clemme
ckcsaber
Remeber the yao Shaq debate for the all star game? Well Yao scored 2 points while Shaq scored around 20, so sucks to Yao.
wassup
Shaq would win. The only way the Rockets won against the Lakers the first time they met was because the Rockets played better as a team. One on one, Shaq would take Yao out.
Elessar-Eärfalas
well with kobe on such a role [51 points last nite ] to me, the lakers are unstoppable right now winning 7 straight. so as much as i like Yao, Shaq and the Lakers are gonna take thay game
-s/<itzo-
first off i love both players but i have to say shaq is much more quicker and powerful. yao is very young, this is only his rookie year. sooner or later he might get to shaq's level. Elessar-Eärfalas
for Yao being a rookie, he is amazing. i cant wait to see what he can do in later years to come with the talent he currently has.
Clemme w/Stick
Hmm, you got a point there. For a rookie hes very talented, but remember hes played b4 in Japan (or China/whatever), so hes only a rookie in the NBA, not to the game. Well, he was in the olympics and thats when the scouts saw him and recognized his talents. Now he only needs to develop them, so he might be able to reach shaqs level. -Clemme
Elessar-Eärfalas
i think eventually he will if he plays and grows around the right people in the NBA, like on the right team....and learns better english, hehe. hell be great, eventually
wassup
For a rookie hes very talented, but remember hes played b4 in Japan (or China/whatever), so hes only a rookie in the NBA, not to the game. Ya but the NBA environment is much more different than the one he used to play in. Much more physically and mentally demanding; its alot to adapt to. To see Yao scoring 30 or more points in his rookie year is more than amazing. No doubt he will become a great NBA player.
-s/<itzo-
true..... nba environment is much more competitive than any other leagues. when yao was playing in china, he was playing against scrubs. nba is the BIG league, can't get any better than that. Elessar-Eärfalas
i personally think there making too big of a deal of this game. i mean, id watch it and stuff, but its not like its just "Shaq vs Yao"....Kobe, Stevey Franchise, theres so many other matchups that make that game so big. so why is everyone calling it Shaq vs Yao? its a team game, and the lakers will win, lol. KBell
I think Yao has better SKILL than shaq. THe only possible reason why shaq is in the NBA is because he weighs more than any player on the court. He's like a football player that practices shooting paper balls in a trash bucket when he was at school as for the matchup, i believe Shaq's first 3 shot were blocked by Yao, but i think Shaq would win the fight. But the Lakers wont win the game.
-=Arkaine=-
I have to agree with you guys Shaq would mess Yoa up in a One on One game but as a team the odds a little lower....but you have to admit that Yoa is an awesome rookie.... Elessar-Eärfalas
ya well i mean its great for Yao considering he IS a rookie, and hes already getting this whole Yao vs Shaq thing goin on, so hes obviously doing something rite! hes great for the Association. wassup
Lets just hope all this publicity doesn't get to Yao's head and make him cocky and overconfident. *Nice avatar Arkaine*
Pedantic
Well, as players, you can't really compare Yao and Shaq, because their playing styles are so different. As Yao said, Shaq is a "meat wall." As people however...Shaq is a huge, dumb animal whose speech is barely intelligible. He is arrogant, rude, and mean. Yao, on the other hand, is well-mannered, classy, and an all-around nice guy. I hope the rest of the league follows Yao's example.
