Every costume in Star Wars is a masterpiece of design, meticulously created, responcible for the feeling of a world that doesn't exist and each one original! Listen to the costume design nominees: Chicago, Frida, Gangs of New York, The Hours and the Pianist--all period pieces where you could go to a freaking Hollywood costume wearhouse and find everything you needed! Episode II also looked over for Achievement in Art Direction! The Two Towers definitely deserves to be nominated in this category, but just as surely Episode II did! Both CREATED WORLDS NEVER SEEN BEFORE! Much more imagination went into these two than all of the others put together! Disgusting popularity contest, the Oscars are! I agree 100%...that's why I stopped watching the Oscars a long time ago. LOTR SHOULD win best picture but of course it won't, it's a forgone conclusion that Chicago will win! Chicago has only been out, what, 2 weeks? LOTR has NAILED EpII to the wall by its SW Universe equivilant of short and curlys. Oscars are just political now. And Star Wars for only 1? Wtf? The people at the Academy only care about dramas and don't look into other areas like Sci-fi, fantasy, etc. Ignorant bas*****...
