The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy on DVD!

I just watched the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy 6-part TV show on a 2-volume DVD collection, and I must say, it is so cool!

The show was made in 1981, before the advent of CGI and such, so the special effects aren't anything special by comparison, but it's hilarious! I thought it perfectly captured the absurd atmosphere of the book, especially since most of the dialogue is taken directly from the book.

The only fault I can find with it is that it stops at the end of the 2nd book (Restaurant at the End of the Universe) which I thought was the most anti-climactic ending of the whole series. Okay, so Arthur and Ford are on the new planet... and that's it? Pah.

But don't let that discourage you. Its a great series! So if you've got about $30 burning a hole in your pocket, go to Best Buy or whatever store you prefer and buy it... now! NOW!

You're not buying it, are you? GO! DO IT NOW OR FACE MY WRATH!

The books are great but I'm not to sure about spending 30 bucks on the TV series.

I don't think the rest of the series was made before 81' so thats why they stopped at Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

RIP Douglas Adams.

I've read the book briefly, and I'll probably stick to that. I'm not much of a fan of purchasing TV series. I got lost after series 2 of FarScape. :snear:
