- Many thoughts and emotions ran through Shado as he stood there in the dark. Past memories of being with Marli and with Brittany also ran through his mind. He could finally tell when he was with Brittany and when he was with Marli. When he thought of Marli, he no longer felt love for her, but anger and hatred. Thoughts and emotions of the dark side .... -

=Shado=

Marli? .... MARLI! I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME! GET BACK OUT HERE AND FACE ME YOU COWARD!

- Shado must have struck a nerve, because the light returned to the room, as well as Marli. -

=Marli=

"Coward" am I? It's funny of you of all people to call anyone a coward, Shado Vorn. Unless I'm mistaken, it was YOU who always ran away from your emotions, am I right?

=Shado=

You're damn right, actually. You're also the very reason that I run even faster from them now!

=Marli=

GOOD!

=Shado=

I figured you'd say that. I can say this much though, at least I have emotions to run from. You ruined my life, Marli. I changed because I thought I found love in you, but it wasn't even you. It was Brittany all along. Did you ever once feel anything for me during the time we were together?

=Marli=

....

=Shado=

No ... don't bother with an answer. I pretty much know what you'd say anyway. My own life doesn't mean much to me anymore, but as long as I still breathe, you will not hurt my friends. This is between me and you anyway, Marli. Let's end it now.

- Shado took one last look at Marli, before he prepared to fight. The funny thing is, all he could think about, was Brittany. Marli didn't give Shado much time to think though, as she charged at him with her lightsaber. Shado used the force to summon a lightsaber used by one of the dead reptillian jedi. It landed in his hand. A snap hiss was heard and the fight began. Shado knew he didn't have a hope in this fight, Marli's skills far outweighed his, but that wouldn't stop him from at least staying alive long enough to see Brittany one last time ... -

Marli laughed as she drove Shado into a wall.

"Looks like I've done more training than you," she said. Pushing him back against the wall, she activated the second blade of her lightsaber and tossed it up. It spun and landed in her hand. This gave Shado enough time to get away from the wall and he took the chance. He ran to the lift and went up to the second level.

"More running away?" Marli scoffed when she caught up with him. Shado didn't have time to respond. Instead he heard her voice change. No, it wasn't Marli. Brittany had found him!

"He was right to run away," Brittany cut in. "After all, an idiot like yourself may have more ability, but Shado has the brains."

In anger, Marli whirled on her sister, barely giving her time to get her lightsaber. Brittany managed to get her lightsaber and retreated to the lower level. There, with a smirk, she brought out a second lightsaber. By this time, Marli was on the second level and approached her sister again. With one final touch, Brittany reached out with the Force and activated the lightsaber of the other reptillian Jedi, causing it to float up behind Marli.

"You may be powerful," Brittany said, "but so am I."

"I should have killed you when I had the chance," Marli snarled. In a moment, the anger on her face was replaced with fear. She had only barely been able to defend herself from the three lightsabers that were attacking her. She rolled out of the way of another attack. This was not going as she had planned.

Finally, she unleashed as much power from the Force that she could muster. It put forth a devestating blow and knocked Brittany backward into a wall. Brittany was momentarily stunned and when she looked up, she saw four lightsabers pointing at her.

"Game over," Marli said with a smirk. "I win."

As if savoring the moment, she brought the lightsabers down slowly and closed her eyes. Suddenly her eyes snapped open. Three of the lightsabers dropped and Marli tripped over something. Brittany had rolled out of the way, right into Marli's legs. Bringing her two lightsabers back to her own hands, she whirled and stabbed blindly. With a cry of rage and pain Marli kicked Brittany. Both of Brittany's lightsabers had pierced Marli's left leg.

Brittany went stumbling backward and hit her head on the wall. She was defenseless. Shado and Rick stood in Marli's way, protecting the now unconscious Brittany. Hero sat next to Brittany, licking her face and trying to wake her up...

- Shado and Rick stood before Marli, lightsabers at their ready for battle positions. Their focus was completely on Marli, now. -

=Marli=

Two against one? How fun!

=Rick=

You should stick to being dead, it suits you much better than rhyming does.

- Marli gave Rick a dirty look. Shado would normally laugh at a comment like that, but he wasn't exactly in a laughing mood. -

=Shado=

You will not hurt my friends like you've hurt me, Marli. I will stop, even if it's with my last breath. I love Brittany. Rick is my friend. I'm not running anymore. LET'S GET THIS OVER WITH!

=Marli=

Oh ... how sweet! Aren't Jedi supposed to keep their pathetic little feelings locked away? Oh well. You could never be the Jedi I have become anyway, Shado. I am fueled by the Dark side. I have TRUE power. You will die here, and so will your love and your friend. Speaking of ....

- Marli focused her gaze on Rick. She waved her hand, and suddenly, Rick turned his attention ... and his lightsaber ... to Shado. Shado kept his focus on Marli, but realized what she was doing. -

=Shado=

What are you doing, Rick?

=Rick=

I ... I ...

=Marli=

I think it would be so much more fun to watch your friend kill you instead. Kill him Rick. Now.

- Rick had no choice. He attacked Shado. Shado did his best to defend himself without hurting Rick or getting hurt himself, for that matter. -

=Rick=

I ... I'm sorry Shado. I can't help it!

=Shado=

Don't be sorry. This is Marli's doing. FIGHT IT!

- The barely lit room was filled with the sparks of lightsabers hitting eachother. Rick seemed to be getting the better of Shado, but Shado would only defend himself. He wouldn't attack his friend. As the two battled, Shado yelled for Rick to fight Marli's will. Rick tried his best to do so. -

=Rick=

She ... she's too powerfull! I CAN'T STOP!

=Shado=

YES YOU CAN! FIGHT HER, RICK! I BELIEVE IN YOU!

- Rick was no novice when it came to being a Jedi. He trained hard, and he trained well. He used up all the power he could muster to defy Marli's will. As his blade was about to strike Shado for the kill, it halted. Rick was once again in control! -

=Shado=

Well done, my friend. Well done.

=Rick=

Nothin' I couldn't handle, buddy.

- Rick let out a small laugh, then brought his attention back to Marli. Marli said nothing as she stared at the two Jedi. A look of rage and anger came over her. -

=Marli=

Good for you, Rick. You must feel very proud of yourself. I was considering having you join my side after killing Shado and Brittany .. and that damn Gizka, but you just pissed me off. BAD IDEA!

- Marli used the Force to slam Rick against the wall. He landed unconscious next to Brittany and Hero. Marli returned her attention to Shado. -

=Marli=

And what about you, Shado? Things can be different now. Perhaps somewhere deep down, I may have had some feelings for you. I could train you in the ways of the Dark Side of the Force. We could be together again, this time you could have me any way you desire. What do you think?

- Shado stood before Marli in silence. His lightsaber did the talking for him. He twirled it in his hand a bit in an artistic display. It returned to its battle ready possition. Shado was through with words. -

=Marli=

No? Fine. I gave you a chance. You blew it. You'll die now, Shado Vorn. But first, lets move the battle location to somewhere else.

- Marli exited the room quickly. Shado was about to follow but stopped and turned to Brittany, Rick, and Hero. He knelt down before them. Hero let out a long, sad coo for his friends and for him. Shado pet his head gently. -

=Shado=

They'll be fine, Hero. They're strong.

- Shado turned his attention to an unconscious Rick. -

=Shado=

You've been a good friend for the little time that we've known eachother, Rick. I know you can't hear me, but this is probably the last time I will be able to speak to you. I can honestly say that you are a good friend, and I trust you with my life. I haven't trusted anyone. Ever. Take care of Brittany and Hero for me. Goodbye, my friend.

- Shado patted Rick on the shoulder then turned his attention to Brittany. He held her his arms as he spoke to her. -

=Shado=

You changed me, Brittany. You helped me believe in myself, you tought me how to love. I don't think of love as a weakness any longer. Thanks to you, I think of it as a strength. I love you Brittany. I will always love you.

- Shado leaned down a bit and kissed Brittany gently on her lips. He then gently placed her against the wall. Shado leaped to his feet. He was ready for his final battle with Marli. He took one last look at Hero, Rick, and Brittany, then turned and followed where Marli had ran off to. -

Marli was waiting for Shado on an extremely narrow catwalk high above an ocean. Shado looked around and realized that the building he had just left was the only structure on the small island and covered the entire island. He wondered breifly where the catwalk led, but then turned his attention to Marli.

"So we fight again," she said. Her head was bowed and she was on her knees. Shado allowed a smile to cross his face. She had been weakened by loss of blood. Suddenly he remembered why. Brittany had stabbed her left leg. That explained why she was on her knees.

"One last time," he replied. Marli's head came up and he could see uncertainty written in her eyes. Finally she nodded.

"One last time," she repeated. She staggered to her feet and brought her lightsaber out. She smiled, but Shado thought it looked more like a grimace. He advanced slowly and she lunged at him. He jumped over her and turned around to see her grasping wildly for her lightsaber. She had fallen to the ground and it had fallen from her grasp. It was rolling for the edge of the catwalk.

She lunged for it, but that was a foolish move to make. She grabbed the lightsaber just as it began its plunge toward the ocean, but her plunge took her over the edge of the catwalk. With a shriek, she twisted, her hand grasping at the edge of the catwalk. Amazingly, she managed to hang on. Shado came to stand over her, uncertain as to what he would do.

"Don't kill me," she whined. "Please don't."

For a moment, Shado felt pity. Then he shook his head.

"I already have," he said. "You're already dead. What more is there to do?"

With that, he turned and left to see about his friends.

"Where are you going, coward?" she shrieked. "Don't you want to let a dead person be buried properly? Help me up."

"You don't exist any more," he called back over his shoulder. At this moment, her luck ran out. Her fingers slipped and with one last shriek, she fell into the waves, thousands of feet below. Shado grimaced. Nobody could survive a fall like that, not even Marli, who had survived his blaster.

As he neared the door a powerful wave of the Force washed over him, sending him crashing into the door. This was truly the last anybody would ever see of Marli Menton.

- Shado, a little shaken from the Force wave, returned to his feet. He made his way back to the room, where Brittany, Rick, and Hero still were. There was also another person standing by them. An elderly man draped in the robes of a Jedi. His lightsaber was in his hand, the blade was green. He was in a battle ready position. Shado thought it wise to prepare himself just in case. A quick snap hiss was heard and Shado was ready for whatever danger awaited him in the mysterious old man. -

=?=

I followed your friends on their ship, I even saw everything that went down here, young one. You have much to learn. Your skills are almost laughable!

=Shado=

You picked the wrong time to make jokes, old man.

=?=

Is it?

- The old man walked closer to Shado with his lightsaber pointing down. He closed it and put it back on his belt. -

=?=

Hit me once, and I will leave you be.

=Shado=

I don't even know you. What makes you think I would strike an unarmed man anyway?

=?=

Just because I am unarmed and old, does not mean that I am not a danger to you, young one. Now hit me. My patience is wearing thin, boy!

- Shado was tired of games and tired of running. He figured he'd try and hit the old man in the foot, stun him a little and the whole thing would be over. -

=Shado=

Fine.

- Shado lunged at the old man, his lightsaber ready to stun his foot. Big mistake. The old man easily moved and Shado got an elbow to the face for his trouble. -

=?=

You aimed for my foot? Was that intentional? COME ON BOY!

- Shado was starting to get a little pissed off. He wanted this to be over with and fast. He got serious this time and did his best to hit the Jedi. Each attempt he missed and got punched, kicked, and tripped for his trouble. He felt stupid and embarrassed, but stayed on his guard. He didn't know the old man and figured he was just a crazy old cook. He returned to his feet in a battle ready stance. -

=?=

You have much to learn, boy. You have convinced me that you are in dire need of my help. I will train you.

=Shado=

Train me? What are you talking about? Listen, old man, you're obviously insane and in need of some serious help. GO GET SOME!

=?=

I take it that that was your attempt at humor. A poor attempt, but an attempt nonetheless. I am Master Kal Neram. I saw you back on Tatooine. You could have avoided this entire situation, but you lacked the skill. I will train you.

- Shado knew the old man was right, and he did need the training badly if he truly wanted to be a good Jedi. Shado nodded his head in agreement. -

=Shado=

Fine. You can train me, but let's get off of this planet already. I'm tired, my friends are unconscious, and I don't want to be here anymore.

=Master Neram=

Very well. Pick up both of your friends and run them as quickly as you can to your ship. I will be watching, and timing. Be quick.

- Shado didn't exactly like the idea of someone bossing him arround, but he also understood that it was part of his training, and that a similiar situation could someday arise, where he would need to act with haste. He ran over to Brittany and Rick, picked them both up, placed them over his shoulders and carried them as quickly as he could to his ship. Hero hopped along behind him. Master Neram kept his eyes strictly on Shado, studying his every move. Finally, Shado made it to the ship. The docking bay was open. He boarded the ship, Hero followed. Shado kneeled to the side a bit and placed Rick in a bed. He then kneeled over to the other side and placed Brittany in a bed. Master Neram entered the ship shortly after. -

=Master Neram=

Nice job, Shado. In the time it took you to do this, you would have already been turned into ashes from the Sith's blaster rifles. PATHETIC!

- An infuriated look came across Shado's face. He stood before the Master Jedi and defended his actions. -

=Shado=

PATHETIC? LISTEN HERE YOU CRUSTY OLD BANTHA! I JUST WENT THROUGH ALOT, I WAS BEATEN NEARLY TO DEATH BY A FEW SITH SOLDIERS ...

=Master Neram=

Just a few? - Neram let out a small giggle -

=Shado=

THIS ISN'T A LAUGHING MATTER! YOU JUST BETTER WATCH WHAT YOU SAY ...

- Shado would have continued, accept he noticed Brittany regaining her consciousness. He quickly shut his mouth and came to her side. -

=Shado=

Brittany ...

Suddenly, Brittany was wide awake. She launched herself onto her feet, both lightsabers on and ready. She looked around in confusion and put her lightsabers away.

"Marli?" she asked.

"She's gone," Shado replied. Brittany relaxed and her eyes finally saw the old man. Her eyes focused on him and she nodded.

"I met you once," she said. "A very long time ago."

"It isn't exactly a long time," he replied. "It's just not as easy to remember what happened when you were three."

- Shado quickly pulled himself away from Brittany, as if startling himself of doing such an act so quickly and foolishly. -

=Shado=

Br ... I'm sorry ... I ... I didn't mean to do that. I ... I'm glad you and Rick are doing well. Marli's dead. This time she won't be coming back. I should get this ship off of the ground ... I ... I better go.

- Shado quickly made his way to the other room of the ship and sat in the pilot seat. He turned some switches, pressed some buttons, and soon the Widowmaker was in the sky. Brittany went to follow Shado, but Master Neram stopped her. He shook his had, as if telling her it wasn't a good idea at the moment. She nodded her head slightly, as if understanding what he meant and agreeing. As the ship turned a little bit to dodge an asteroid that was nearing it, the turn caused everyone to stumble back a bit, and Rick to fall out of his bed. He rose to his feet as if a little embarrassed. -

=Rick=

So ... what's with the old guy?

=Master Neram=

I am not old, I am wise. You clearly are not. You seem to be a fairly skilled Jedi, young one, but your tongue could one day get you in some big trouble!

=Brittany=

Calm down you two.

- The three sat down on seperate beds and carried a conversation. The scene switched back to Shado Vorn. Once again, he had a lot on his mind. Marli was gone for good. Part of him was pleased and relieved, and another part of him could care less. He was over her. He felt a bit stupid for blatantly kissing Brittany. He felt that he should appologize to her, later on. He was also wondering where they should go to next. He got his answer when he noticed his ship was getting a little low on fuel. He'd have to land at the nearest planet : Korriban. Shado didn't like the idea of landing on that planet because of it's well known reputation of holding many Sith, but he didn't really have much choice. -

=Shado=

We're landing on Korriban. Prepare yourselves ... - Shado shouted -

=Master Neram=

What business do we have on Korriban, padawan? - Neram shouted back -

=Shado=

It's the ship. She needs to be refueled, plus, I'm sure we could all use a rest for a few days, and a bite to eat. I'm starving.

- Shado grew quiet after he alerted his friends of where they were heading. He didn't exactly have a lot of friends on Korriban, in fact, he didn't know anyone from Korriban. He only knew of its reputation, and he didn't like that. He didn't like that one bit. -
