wedge2211
Use the forum search tool. Look for "mirror."

kiljo
Thanks. I tried to make a mirror the way the turorials said by making a "brush"?? with mirror1 texture, and infront of it i placed a misc_porta_surface. but the mirror appears like a white grid. am i doing something wrong here? Leslie Judge
Kengo, this hurts. But of course I don't have any idea. I steal others' ideas.
ioshee
LoL I approve of both your posts:D I don't think you can make a mirror in MP. Am I right?
Leslie Judge
Probably yes. There are several threads where people tell other eople how to make it, but noone did it.

Leslie Judge
Nah, OK. I don't believe. I make a map with mirror. If it works, I will believe. Probably will, because I rediscovered the DOTF V2.0 thread, and there they say that it works but not for patches. I'll be back...
kiljo
Hmm I still see a white grid instead of something mirror alike... i
ioshee
Did you test it yet Leslie? I tried it just like the tutorial that WEDGE posted but I couldn't get it to work. Either it’s user error on my part or Wedge needs to check his sources better (j/k wedge, I know you do this free of charge… right?)
Leslie Judge
I tested but no success. Yet. [edit] OK, my stupidity... This is what works: only they system/mirror_yavin was operational from the default shaders I tried. I didn't try the second mirror floor from the yavin set, so it can be OK too. The point is that the engine displays that default black-white texture when it has nothing to display. In the system/mirror_yavin shader a plain all-black texture is mapped onto the surface, so the engine finally has something to display => it doesn't make that annoying grid any more. MccMadCouncil
Use mirror_floor 2 with the mis_portal surface but keep it 64 units away from the surface and no further then 64 units. But the most importen thing is the lighting on the surface. You just have to mess around with it.Thats how i got it to work.So try that
Leslie Judge
With system/mirror_yavin the lighting is not a problem, it has q3map_nolightmap in the shader code. And it not uses a floor texture blended with the mirrored image so better for standing mirrors. that mirror_floor_2 or what the name is is good for mirroring floors. What a surprise!
