Just recently, I discovered the overall greatness of total conversion mods for JK2!

 

I've tried the Dark Forces TC demo, and I know about the Dark Forces II:Jedi Knight TC and the AOTC TC.

 

Does anyone know where I could find more star wars related total conversion mods for JK2?

 

 

BTW, is anyone making models/skins of chars from Star Wars: Bounty Hunter like Montross and Komari Vosa?

yeap im the team leader of the Dark Forces 2 Jedi Knight Enhanced TC i think theres only a few big TC on the what DF DF2E ATOTC, TPM and LOTR TC. where going to realease a demo soon for the DF2E TC (jedi Knight 1) in a 3-4 weeks where going for a private beta invite only and soon the new site will be launched :D wahts slowing the demo down a bit as all my time is going into the Site

I am project leader for the co-op total conversion, Rebel Operations. Here is a short description of the mod:

 

Rebel Operations is a cooperative multiplayer modification for Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast that puts players in the role of the elite special forces of the Empire or Alliance. As one of many distinct characters, players will be able to utilize a variety of weapons and equipment to complete the impossible against all odds.

If I recall, LOTR mods do not have permission to use LOTR, so they'll get nuked. You can make models and skins and maps without problem, as those are just the same as making a painting, it's 'fan art', but a mod is considered a liability to most companies.

:cool: *sheesh* Guys need to have backups for licenced stuff. I mean, granted I'm workin' on a comic character-mod but two seconds and it's just another Vamp-slayer game.

 

I'd just make the spunky sidekick Zia the main character. Getting 'A Letter from the Man' is just a lame excuse IMO.

Well, if you count as Total Conversion as any mod that totally changes the whole game you'd have a grand total of zero TCs for JK2 because all the plained mods only totally change MP or SP but not both. Yes, AOTC TC claims this but you'll also notice there are no true plans for a SP component for JK2.

Not strictly true, we are concentrating on the MP side of the TC at the moment, but the SP is still there, im still making SP levels as well, but we cant do a lot until the SP SDK is released, and I dont think we will see that until the expansion pack is released.

Hm, I define "total conversion" as any mod that changes virtually all aspects of a game (save for the engine), thus creating a new game. I don't put any bearing on whether the original game had SP, MP, both, or something else in relation to the TC. A "mod" would be anything that modifies the code of something...

Basically, you're not actively working on it which is the same thing. :)

:cool: Hmm... It's the opposite with the Blade Mod. SP comes first and any MP is more of a 'side effect'. Any MP component would just be a mix of the SP stuff with other MP mods (Dragon Remix & Saberists for example) untill the main SP chapters are done, then we'd work on the MP.

 

I personally consider them two different games.

I was all looking foward to doing the SP side of the TC, we were going to base the whole thing on the novel rather than the film, as there were cool extra bits in it. Im still working on a few SP level and training levels that I was hoping to use to intorduce new Force Powers and fighting styles, but with out the support of Raven tellin us how to create new animation keys I gave up and concentrated on the MP side.
