Imperial_thug
This kinda hard to explain but here goes..... Ok, I want to make a little hill or bump on the ground. So I make a simple patch mesh and curve it up in the middle, then place it on the ground, looks good, except on the edges of the Patch mesh there is some really ugly z-fighting going on. So my question is are there any tricks or anything I can do to get rid of this? -Thanx.
ioshee
It depends on how your layout is but I'll use a simple example: Say your hill is in the middle of the room. Cut up the floor with the clip tool so that there is a square the exact size of the hill mesh. Now texture that square that is under the hill with caulk. Here is an example pic: http://richdiesal.jedioutcastmaps.com/images/gc102lsn4-16.jpg Taken from this great website: http://richdiesal.jedioutcastmaps.com/tutorials You may have to get creative to tailor this idea to suit your needs. Leslie Judge
If you left the edges straight then you can cut up your floor along those to have a brush with the size of the patch mesh under the patch mesh and texture it's upper surface with system/caulk. [edit] Ehh, I was slow.
Imperial_thug
Hey, Thank you to both of you. I have tried what you said & it has worked beautifully, no more z-fighting. Thanks again for helping me, I really appreciate it.
Karshaddii
I got here a 'lil late but I normally just stretch the patch mesh through the actual brush...as far as I can tell it doesn't affect the VIS process whatsoever and it looks more natural. Livingdeadjedi
hey theres nothing to worry about even the professionals get Z fighting and sparkles play jk2 and have a good look around in the SP game =]]] LOADS of sparkles in between meshes and they are impossible to get rid of even by caulking a brush behind. Thats only certain mesh forms though sometimes perfection isnt needed. .......Wait a Sec ...What the hell am i saying RFL
