BobaWP
Hey I have a quick question about the fighting. Now I played AC for about 2 years and it was all the same thing over and over. I'm hoping that they went in more depth with SWGs combat. So my question is does anyone know how the combat will be run? And please if you do know be descriptive on what you can and cannot do. Thanks BobaFettWP
Exar_reborn
Fett are you talking about Blaster Combat or Melee? UGH I hated AC combat form. Poke poke poke. nothing different. But its changed in AC2 you have to doa finishing move to kill your opponent.

cybercell9
I think the battle is like that of Daoc..but i might be wrong, never played beta before. Thats what I heard from friends who played the beta:D
setsuko
Yes, a bit more like DAoC, where you did special moves and such while fighting. However, in SWG, different special moves drains from any of the three pools, not only stamina. Also, there is more emphasis on standing/kneeling, range, and movement, or at least judged by the movies I've seen thus far.
Exar_reborn
Well we know that the blaster combat will be cool from that video we saw. And also if you go to the Marksman skill tree it shows special moves like Head shot body shot, prone shot, roll to prone. So it should be cool with blasters and since we don't have the brawler skill tree yet we can't really tell if they're special moves but my guess is that their will be. BobaWP
Yeah it is me Wes. Im talking about both but he was only moving left and right in the video. And i want to know how you use these specials, do you need AP(ability points)to pull one off or can you just use it whenever.
BobaWP
Also it doesnt take a genius to look at the skill tree and just read specials off it. But i hope they make it so you cant just use them whenever. SO then the battle is more realistic.
setsuko
well, bobafettwp, the thing is that each move and tactic has it's disadvantage, so you don't want to do them "whenever". If you kneel down, you'll be better at aiming, but then you'll be unable to move away from close combat and you will be more exposed to mêlée. And making the wrong special move in the wrong situation will drain you more than your opponent. That, imho, is more 'realistic' than not being able to perform moves at your own free will. And no, there's no AP, this isn't Final Fantasy after all! However, some moves might take longer (for instance, aiming), and also, some weapons will be slower (a maul compared to a rapier, for instance). The other thing that keeps you from doing special moves all the time is that it drains one, two or all your three pools (health, endurance, and mind, if I'm not completely wrong). So if you use a move that drains 'mind' a lot, a few well-aimed headshots (which drains the mind pool) could take you out cold, no matter how much health you have left. BobaWP
Ok thanks as long as i dont have to do the same exact thing 1 millions times over and over like in AC.
setsuko
Yes, hopefully this additional strategy in combat will make it more interesting than in EQ and AC. "Ok guys, I'll tape the 'attack' key down and go get some supper, just heal me and spare some loot, ok?"
Exar_reborn
Boba I think that the special is what mind points are for not sure though haven't really read up on it. But you saw on the skill tree I mean you can roll and shoot and all that jazz, if thats not a special move what would you consider one? Run up and hit them unconsious with the butt of your rifle? setsuko
Specials are not reserved to the mind pool alone. All pools have moves and attacks that affects them.
Jackrabbit
Another thing that I think is in is Line of Sight. If you’re hiding behind a tree, the enemy wont be able to hit you. In one beta post (Q posted it in one of his updates), somebody was talking about sneaking up on enemies by lying in the grass. And I think it's Health, Mind, and Action pools. BobaWP
I think they should through in a move when you kill a guy like Cloud in FF7(best RPG ever) when he twirls his sword.
Jackrabbit
Well, there are hundreds of emotes (maybe not hundreds, but a lot), so you could just do your own after every battle.
