zERoCooL2479 Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 I have both Vader's from Episode IV and Luke's from Episode V from Master Replicas I wish I could get them all, but the budget doesnt allow that So I bought these, my personal favorites! I got low numbers too The Vader one is #34/7500 and the Luke one is #132/2500 They are so sweet to have and look great on my shelf. I highly recommend them for their speedy service as well.
Macbeth2k1 Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 Good numbers ZC, its hard to find them. I saw a matching set of items on ebay, all #21 of Vader, Luke, Obi-Wan, Han's blaster starting for something like $4500. I've got two sabers now. Neither are MR but they're quality sabers. One is Aayla's saber with an emitter you can change out for Shakk Ti's/Adi Gallia's. The other is Mace's saber from EP1 from Larbel's collection. I might pick up Dooku's saber while waiting for Mace's EP2 saber to become avalable. I really like getting the more rare non-MR sabers of other characters.
daring dueler Posted June 3, 2003 Author Posted June 3, 2003 and where can people get these non-mr sabers
Hindy Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Dunno but maybe they are older licences, ICON made replica sabers before MR There are sites around which so you how to make your own saber hilts from the movies for around $50... If ya strapped for cash you could always make your own
Macbeth2k1 Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 I tried making one of my own sabers, but like I always say, "Ya get what ya pay for." And when you buy $20 worth of hardware, you get a $20 saber. The non-MR sabers I'm talking about are avalable on ebay every now and then. I've seen Leia's saber that she made herself (not one given to her). And Aurra Sing's saber. All the Qui-Gon Jinn sabers are custom made. Some people copy the MR sabers pretty well. Some are made by Larbel, one of the artists that used to make sabers for MR. My point of view is, you can always get a sold-out MR saber on ebay for a reasonable price if you wait for it. But the non-MR sabers are rare finds and really show off your fan-boy when you know there are only a handful of copies out there.
daring dueler Posted June 6, 2003 Author Posted June 6, 2003 ive made my own (2) not bad really. but where could i find non mr sabers...or these 50$ custom ones? the icons are sold out everywhere and are alot more than MR
Macbeth2k1 Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 Like I said, the best place to find specific sabers based on actual props is ebay. Ya just gotta watch it for a few weeks to find one you want and are willing to pay for. Talk to the seller and ask them questions about it. You shouldn't pay any more than you would for a MR saber. Less actually. In fact, I'm planning to wait for the MR Mace saber to be released and then buy it on ebay, its a lot cheeper there. I'll have to wait longer but probably pay half as much. But, you can find cheeper ones that arn't based on the character props, but simply custom sabers. http://www.rlsasabers.com/ are pretty cheep. That's probably because they seem to use the same basic shapes to make a lot of different sabers. http://www.parksabers.com/arcwave.html are kinda expensive. That seems to be because of the craftmanship put into the sabers. They look much more detailed and a lot of them have blades and extra options. http://larbel.amer.net/ Larbel doesn't make sabers anymore. You can sometimes find them for sale on ebay though. http://www.padawansguide.com/lightsabers.shtml Make your own from hardware. You get what you pay for. http://www.thelightsaber.com/history1.htm I like to use this site to compair the custom sabers I find on ebay to what they should look like. It appears as though a lot of research went into the histories page.
