Havoc Stryphe
I just completed my first Multimedia Desktop for KOTOR. It comes Complete with Music, and imagery. I take no credit for any of the imagery or music. That all belongs to Lucasarts and BioWare. I just compiled it, arranged it and put it all togethor! I recommend it to those with high end Computers (Mainly RAM>256mb) and a high Speed Internet Connection. (The file is just shy of 10MB) Just download it, unzip it and select the "Kotor Desktop.htm" file for your background image. If Active Desktop is not activated already, you will be prompted to activate it at that time. For Non-windows users or Pre-Win ME/2000/XP users, you can still view the background through your Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape etc.) you just might not be able to use it as a background. Anyways, let me know what you think, and enjoy! Havoc Stryphe's Multimedia KOTOR Desktop for Windows (Updated 5/2/03) (Right Click and "Save Target As") EDIT: Oh yeah, One thing I forgot, It is meant to be viewed at 1024 X 768 Resolution! Taos
Well, I got it downloaded and everything......when I right click on the 'KotorDesktop.htm' it won't allow me to set as my background. Then when I try to open it, that won't work because it says I need some kind of plugin.........any thoughts/suggestions, because I really want to see this! Thanks in advance! You can't set it as your background by right clicking on it, unfortunately. You have to go to your "Display Properties" panel, either by going through the control panel or right clicking on your desktop and selecting "properties". Then go to the "background" tab and browse for the "Kotordesktop.htm" file (it should be where you unzipped it to) and select it. That should do it for you. Thanks for trying it out, Frosty, if you don't like it, I understand, I won't take it personally, because I know exactly where you're coming from. Actually, it took several programs to make it. Here's the ironic part. I made it at work yesterday (I was really bored! ) Initially I made the background picture in Microsoft Paint (I know! It's all I have at work though! I might release a version 2.0 if enough people like this version. I have Photoshop at home! ) After the main image was done, I just coded some html and javascript in Notepad to add some music and imagery to the picture. All in all, I think it's pretty nice for a true Kotor fan! Thanks guys for taking the time to download it on a 56k modem, that action alone speaks volumes about the kind of people you guys are, I'm touched... Havoc Stryphe
Sorry about the double post, but It has come to my attention that I uploaded the wrong file. The links within teh file were wrong and therefor the image was not working properly. I have updated the file please click the below link for the updated file: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Multimedia Desktop (Updated 5/2/03) Sorry to those who already downloaded it, but it was only half working, if that, you really do need to download this version if you want to see the background the way I intended it! Burrie
I must say that I like the look of the desktop... but when I activate it, I only get a grey image which, if I double-click it, leads me to some WaterLogic site. Of course, I also have the music(a good choice, BTW), which is a neat touch, but I have to ask... is there a way to turn it off?

There is no way, as far as with a GUI, to shut the music off, that will be in version 2.0 For now, you can open the ".htm" file in notepad and place a ";" in front of the line "<EMBED SRC="theme.mp3" loop=true autostart=true autoplay=true hidden=true controller=false loop=true>" That will turn the music off the next time you load it. As far as a grey box, instead of the images. I'm not sure why that would be? Did the ".jpg" files unzip to a directory called "images" when you unzipped the file? By the the images will link to waterlogic.com because I used their java applet to display the images. It's free, but it has to be linked to their site for credit.
