New models/skinning tutorials?

Hi all,

 

I'm just getting started on modeling new characters and was wondering if anyone could point me to tutorials online that walk you through the process. I have 3ds Max 4, Photoshop 7, etc., now I just need to know how to go about it.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
