Theophrastus
Hallo, I'm a newbie at this forum so this question may have been covered somewhere else, so my apologies. I'm building a player model for JKII in MAX 5, and I need to get a copy of a Root.xsi in Max 5 format. I have an XSI importer but makes a mess of the bones, and it's the bones I realy need. Anybodys help would be greatly appreciated.
Hindy
Ok I take it you actually own the game... Well go into your gamedata/base file then browse the assests0.pk3 with winzip or equivilant. Find the Kyle folder in the models directory and look for his root.xsi. Extract it to desktop or where ever you want. Now use 3DS Max to import it but make sure the animation box is UNCHECKED otherwise the legs will appear at the sides. I made this mistake, hope it helps Hindy
Wudan
root.XSI isn't included with the game, it's included with the Raven SDK releases, go download both of them.
Theophrastus
Hindy and Wudan, you don't understand, I'm not using the importer that comes with the JKII SDK as that one is for MAX 4. I have an importer for MAX 5 but it imports the bones as very small dummy objects. The easiest thing would be if somebody could be kind enough to send me a root.xsi in max format? Wudan
??? The one in Raven's SDK works with 3dsm 4 and 5. If you look for posts by BoBo Fett, you might find what you are looking for. He had one in a 3dsm format, but I can't verify that it worked properly. Why do you need the bones to be so precise? Just for regular model building? BoBo Fett also wrote a few other really cool programs you might be interested in.
Hindy
oops! Sorry Wudan... I thought I got it from the game nevermind eh. PsykOSith has one on his site, I believe so look for one of his posts and his web address is by his signature.

Theophrastus
Wudan, I didn't realise the importer worked in Max 4 and 5. I'll try that, thanks.
KMan
There should be one on Polycount, in the resources section. Someone either put it up for Max or Milkshape.
