Jedi Apprentice
There has been a bunch of discussion on this topic. Opinions range from the idea that different saber crystals will change the tip to the idea that it is just a flaw. But we don't really know yet, so we're all just holding our breath for now. I think it is just dependent on the crystals. Or that's what I am hoping for. If you read some older threads you would see mass discussion on this topic. Dharkbayne
im thinking the fight scene in the E3 thing, I mean, they were just standing there, they need blocking, parrying, dodging, riposting, and stuff like that,
Taos
Originally posted by Jedi Apprentice And the frame-rate issues. What else are you thinking, Leemu? Yes, I'm a bit concerned about the frame rate issues as well. I was referring to the saber tips as being what they still needed to work on. Also, Dharkbayne - Please don't make anymore one or two word posts, it is considered spam. Check out this thread if you have any questions on forum rules and there is also some other important info that you might want to know. Thanks for your cooperation. Jedi Apprentice
About the frame-rate issues: Frame rate is always among the last things that a game gets correct before shipping. Usually what happens is that the design and tech teams cram as much stuff into the game as possible and then we slowly, very carefully, remove selected things to lower the frame rate to get it to the desired level. This doesn't effect the quality of the game, it is just part of the regular design cycle. Both Lucasarts and BioWare are extremely quality driven. We will not release a game that is not absolutely perfect. The frame rate is being fixed as we speak and is really starting to look great. Straight from Beastly-Priestly's mouth. So I have stopped worrying about that. For the most part. Maybe one of us should post a topic about the saber issue if it hasn't already been done. It could clear up things pretty well. Or another dev could just magically pop in.
jedi3112
I'veasked this question both to LA, using the askteam link (you have to be a member to use it, but it's free to become one) and bioware, on the forum (just made a quick account there) but none of the officials seems to notice. Uber_Saber
I noticed, on the tips of the lightsabers, that in this video, the tips are not really cut off of the lightsabers. I think they've fixed that, or the fault is in whatever they're using to screencap.
Thrift
I haven't seen any of the recent videos in much quality due to my shoddy computer (hell I haven't even downloaded the latest ones - been awol in my spare "computer time" playing Morrowind on X-Box), but I had a theory when the flat-tip was first noticed that it was just because most of the recent screenshots with lightsabre's have all been taken while the weapon is in movement. Ie. When the weapon is still, it looks normal. Mind you, I'm about 100 screenshots behind at the moment from the looks of it, so what the hell would I know

I think they've fixed that, or the fault is in whatever they're using to screencap. It's possible it was never a problem. We never saw the sabers in motion only screenshots. When a saber is moving around in a game there's no telling what it'll look like if you freeze it on one frame.
Uber_Saber
And on some of them, it could concievably (sp?) be the angle at which the saber is. It could look like it was being held directly out, but as we saw in that video, it's held at kind of an angle, going forward. (At least for the right hand in the double-sabers hold)
