SamandMax
I guess Lucasarts made Kotr really good, so we'd forget all about RTX Red Rock.

Moosferatu
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/rpg/starwarsknightsoftor/review.html [edit] Just finished reading it. It is a whole lot better review than the one on IGN. It does a good job of describing its strengths and weaknesses.

By the way, has anybody actually played that one? Jeez, I think the price dropped from $49.99 straight to $19.99 at my local CompUSA faster than any other PS2 game I can remember... amishler
Originally posted by Skinny Minnie Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow, you're only a daaaaaaaay away.... Aw, somehow the Star Wars smilies just bring it home all the more... I get it tomorrow too! But here's the kicker... I tried calling the EB where I preordered the game, but got a message saying the number had been disconnected. So I called the mall information line and asked if they had the store's new number, at which point they informed me that this particular EB had closed shop and moved out with very little notice, sending their stock to other area stores. The person I talked to suggested calling those other stores to find out what was up with preorders, without knowing which store might have taken them. So I tried the next closest store to me, and they pointed me to the store after that, saying that store had taken all of the closed EB's preorders. And they were right. The person I spoke with at this third store confirmed my preorder and let me know that they'll have the game in tomorrow. I was hoping for today, but after that initial scare that I might not get it at all and be out $50 to boot, I'm okay with waiting another day. Maybe by then my heart rate will be closer to normal again. EDIT: Minnie, have you already made plans for your character (gender, class, name, what path you're taking, etc.)? I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do first. I'm thinking it'll take about 4 times through to cover most things (Light and Dark paths each for a male and female character), so there's no big hurry to decide, I guess. Royal Fool
This sucks... The PAL version of KotOR for XBOX won't be out until late August / early September. And to think this was going to be the game that I was going to purchase an XBOX with. Oh, well. Guess I'll just wait for the PC version then. Moosferatu
Originally posted by Aranolorion a good idea. exclusive content is promised for the pc version. yay! Yeah, but there is exclusive content for the XBOX version as well. Don't forget that it is Live enabled. In other words there will be downloadable content. I don't know what they are planning for the PC version but it it will have a hard time beating downloadable content. Although you do have to pay for XBOX Live don't you. In that aspect I guess the PC content might be better. We will just have to see.
amishler
You do have to pay for Xbox Live, though starting this fall there will be a monthly option for about $6/month, at least in the US. Also, *most* Live content is made available through the Official Xbox Magazine demo disc. So there are options if you don't want to get Live, or if you don't have broadband. For those who are interested, I'm having a blast playing KotOR. My last saved game shows me at about 8 hours of play time, and I'm still on the first planet. (I am doing a lot of the side quests, which accounts for a good deal of that time.) I'm working my way toward the Light Side, though the Dark Side dialog options are tempting (and funny). My character's name is Aaryn Dell (randomly generated), and I'm currently a level 7 (I think; could be 8) scout.

amishler
9 + 4 = 94 The final voice among the Big Three has spoken. GameSpy posted their review of KotOR, giving it a 94. They also have a new feature (KotOR is the second recipient, the other being SW:Galaxies) called Pile On, where various editors and even non-journalistic types from GameSpy throw in their two cents on a game. This is nice as it gives the reader a wide variety of viewpoints, not just the one of the reviewer. For example, we learn that despite the fact that the Xbox editor is an RPG aficionado, he doesn't like KotOR that much. This is apparently because the last two movies sucked. Obviously, he's not a big fan of logic, either. (He actually has more and better reasons than this for his dislike of the game, and I certainly don't hold his opinion against him. The jerk.) Meanwhile, not entirely oblivious to the ranting and/or raving of critics, I continue to greatly enjoy my first time through the game. I'm at about 17 hours of gameplay, and am a level 12 character (level 8 scout + level 4 Jedi Sentinel). Life is good when you're high on the Light Side. I'm also gaining a reputation as a darn fine swoop bike racer, but that's mostly incidental, though it catches the eye of a Hutt or two, let me tell you. And the credits flow a little easier; never a bad thing.
