Katarn07 Posted July 23, 2003 Share Posted July 23, 2003 For my real game, I'm just being myself and I've ended up being pure lightside before I even made that final choice. Well, sure I had my share of brushes with the Darkside, but the good outweighed the bad. That is me in real life too, so, guess I would make a great Jedi! I am almost done, made that last choice as to which side to follow before dinner and might I say that was indeed one epic thing. Anyhow, since the one person I do stuff with is pissed at me because she's under the impression I'd rather play KotOR over talking to her (little sisters really are bad at relaying phone messages ) I won't be starting up a new game anytime soon unless that blows over. MasterTypoDemon Posted August 14, 2003 Share Posted August 14, 2003 i was 100% Dark Jedi type, but then at the end, i rejected the Dark Side and was like 60% good. it sucked. i spent most of the game with dual red sabers. after i got some goodie points, i felt guilty and changed to yellow. its just too much fun being bad. you can make peope do things and give you money. plus conversations are more one sided when you tell people what to say. i dont know how to write in the white box spoiler font, but at the end... making zaalbar kill mission was fun too. DarthCPA Posted August 14, 2003 Share Posted August 14, 2003 I obtained the Ultimate Light Side after earning some Dark Points early one. It seemed harder to keep to the Light Side so I tried to achieve that goal. Although my character wore Dark Jedi robes and wielded a Red Lightsaber and Violet Lightsaber. StarScream423 Posted August 17, 2003 Share Posted August 17, 2003 If you are dark, then at the end you kill juhani, jolee and mission, you can also kill zaalbar if you choose to, or you can choose to keep him and convince him to kill mission as well. Allronix Posted August 20, 2003 Share Posted August 20, 2003 I play as myself, and have just hit Tattooine. I'm already firmly on the Light Side. Most of the Dark Side choices seem so repulsive (though even THAT is a mild word for it) to me that I don't even have the curiosity to pursue them. The Dark Side powers would be useful in combat, but like the stereotypical gamer chick I am, combat is not my central focus anyway. I do like the combat system, and think that the hack and slash aspect is great bin the context of the game, but I'm in it for the puzzle-solving aspects - I'd rather have a smart and persuasive character that does all right in combat rather than some full-out munchkin. I did get one dark point by nailing Starkiller. That guy was a mad dog that needed to be taken out for everyone's safety, IMO. It's still early in the game. Oh, and I do know about the plot twist. I got to see some spoilers when watching my bro in law play. Still doesn't make the Dark Side any more palatable. And killing Mission? THAT'S the most disgusting thing I've heard of doing in the game! I LIKE that spunky little gal. (Ok, she reminds me a lot of my teenaged niece). I also like Juhani and Jolee...heck, I like all the party, even though Bastila behaves like a arrogant brat until she learns some humility. To threaten with death arrogant Sith and then Force Persuade guard's into arresting THEM! To show the true power of the dark side to the republic prisoner by choking him to DEATH! And of course, for the ending. It's good, really liked it, but.... **SPOILER** ...I was expecting more. C'mon, that 30(?) Sith soldiers + some officers that You see when officialy taking back your position don't exactly make an ARMY(!) worth of praising a reborn Dark Lord of Sith Revan (missed anythin?).(Sigh) Well, cant have everything. But the "Fleet Emerging" movie (or so) was beautiful. I'm a real "power to the people," anti-eliteist type, ESPECIALLY the self-desginated elites...on political boards, I test out as a Green, Socialist, or (rarely) Pacifist-Anarchist. A Dark Lord seems a terrible existence - the universe cowers at your feet, but there is no one to trust - anger and bitterness and no joy. As many a Roman emperor found out, even sadism and decadance ring hollow quickly. There is no one to share a laugh or a meal with. No one that is glad to see you at the end of the day. The people you rule hate you and the universe itself shrieks with the same agony as your soul... Not my style. Of course, I also wince at several of the Jedi concepts, too. the Jedi seem so scared of themselves that they'd rather attempt to amputate half their soul rather than learn how to live with themselves. It's this that eventually destroys them, judging by Episode 2. They take kids from the cradle (before they even understand what the hell they're swearing to), cut them off from the entire universe for most of their life, forbid them love and/or underequip them for the messier aspects of being a sentient. By Ep 2, they're so cloistered that they've lost their connection to life (the Force) itself. Frankly can't blame Anakin for going insane. He must have equated the cloistered life with the slavery of his old life. Heck, on many levels, he had more freedom as Watto's property than as a Padawan. Fafnir Posted August 23, 2003 Share Posted August 23, 2003 If you don't take the game seriously, the dark path is full of extremely funny moments. The stuff that you choose to tell people can sometimes be so out of line and uncalled for that it simply makes you laugh. I remember one memorable moment where Jolee is going through this big long spill about something, and after it's over, one of the options you have is, "I hate you, old man." I laughed out loud, HARD, after I read that option! It was there for NO reason at all! It had nothing to do with anything at all, other than giving you dark side points (not sure if it actually gives you points, I didn't select it in order to lengthen the conversation... I knew Jolee would try to get all philosophical and cool with me, as usual, if I tried to be funny with him). Also, the sheer amount of times that you're able to say, "Time to die!" is breathtaking. I mean that in the most humorous way possible. The thought of someone as foolish as that is so, so funny. I LOVE the dark path, because of its humor. Besides that, I think their ideas and philosophies are much more interesting than the light side ideals. Granted, there are always holes in the dark side ideals... anyone with a good intellect could shoot down any reasoning of the sith. But, the reasoning behind the teachings of the sith are interesting to read, though they're far from impregnable (the light side ideals are next to infallable). Both times I've played through the game, I've been a dark jedi, though. Darkness is ALWAYS cooler than light. You get black robes instead of ... brown or khaki or whatever. Any color of lightsaber goes really well with the solid black robes. Insanity is one of the coolest and most helpful force powers ever. Plus, your looks change as a dark jedi. On the light path, you keep the same face throughout the whole game, and that's very bad in my opinion, as the game's pre-made faces aren't all that great, anyway. You can look pretty downright scary by the time you max out your dark side points. Plus, the dark side jedi have access to more dark side only items than the light side jedi have light side only. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't make too much difference what side you pick, as long as you're having fun. Do I disagree with just about EVERYTHING that puts you on the dark path? YES! I think a person who acted like I act in KotOR would need to be locked away for years, either in an insane asylum or in death row. Ha. However, I find the light path TRULY boring and not nearly as entertaining as the dark. That's my choice. Dark side wins. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
