Recommended Posts

Working on a helpdesk can have it's advantages, like knowing when a big virus is spreading, like now.

Someone foud a hole in windows 2000/XP which makes your PC shutdown after giving a warning telling you it got some kin d of error in the Remote Procedure Call service...

The bug can be quite easily fixed using a patch by microsoft, found here:

The fix for that hole has been available for some time. If you update regularly it shouldn't be a problem.

And to please Moos:

If you run proper OS:s you never run into these problems. Nah, linux has also security holes. The thing is that you should update your OS regularly, with or without linux. But the fixes comes out very fast for linux most often.

that's funny....

by returning today and opening the computer i had this problem...and at start i didn't know what it was(driving me crazy) as by checking viruses there was no virus. Thankfully the norton anti virus find the blaster worm sometimes and so by checking the database at the syrmantec site i linked to the page of microsoft...and downloaded the patch....works like a charm....

pffff :)

if i was able to enter the forum (as the computer shutted-down every 3-5 minutes) and check the threads i would have learned it far earlier and missed the nervous break down :D
