I can do without voice overs if the dialogue itself is well-written. FF9's dialogue was hilarious -- you really need to play it.

FF8 would be my second choice. I just liked 9's a lot because it had a better character progression. They didn't suddenly fall in love -- in fact, she didn't even like him much til disc 3. Could be that he grabbed her ass and claimed it was an accident.......

I don't know -- I can find fault with just about all of them. If you mixed all the romances in FF8, FF9, and FF10 together that'd probably be pretty awesome. Unfortunately each of them kinda fails a little on their own. But... I usually like a sappy romance story.

If I had to pick one of those three, I'd probably pick 9.

I worry about not living up to previous standards with my writing too. I think my peak was like... when I was 12.
