Please, help me. It's urgent.

Well, not really urgent, but hey, it got you in here didn't it.

Anyway, I bought a network card for my geiser computer which is right next to my gaming rig, and have been playing old school Jedi Knight Multiplayer head to head on my two computers and having a blast. So anyway, I figure if it's this much fun with this old game, then heck, why not my newer ones. Right? Wrong. My other system is underpowered to say the least, so what I want to know is what in the way of an inexpensive overhaul would you guys reccommend.

What I'm thinking is a new motherboard, Hard Drive, CPU, and RAM. I have the case and moniter that work and everything, but I just need enough punch in it to play some modern games decently.

It's current specs are 500 MHz AMD Processor, I think it has like a 5 or ten GB hard drive, with 128 MB of RAM running with Windows 98SE

What I would be after is around a 1 - 1.5 GHz Processor, 40-50 GB Hard Drive, and 512 MB of RAM with a Motherboard that could run it all.

I don't want to spend a huge chunk to get top of the line stuff, because the old computer is usually my little brother's for his kid games, and in the next couple of years, my current gaming rig will replace that, so I just need a few things to make it last a bit longer and give me some head to head MP fun while it's here.

So, let me know, what's cheap, what works, etc. For this system, I"m not picky.

Also, would I have to update my OS to upgrade the rest of the system?

I know. I would prefer if it was XP, but as I said, it is my Little brother's computer, so most of the games that they play were made for Windows 95-98. Most of them don't even run on XP

And thanks Rhett for the links. Now, can you tell me, is that motherboard any good, or is it 60 bucks for a reason?

Tell your elves I said hello. :D
