Ockniel
can somebody help me with some things? If anyone could help with even one it would help. -I'm making a cave and I tried to put a dirt floor and in the game it looks really bright and no matter what I try it won't get lighted correctly. -I want to know how to make a fire/flamethrower, could any one help or point me to a tutorial? lukeskywalker1
Yeah, for some reason the rock textures dont look right, they are super bright, and it looks aweful. You should get the Q3MAP compiler, sorry, i dont have a link. About the flamethrower, is it for a person, or to just site there. i made one for boba fett in singleplayer:
wedge2211
Here are two possible reasons why your cave floor is overly bright: 1) You have a leak in your map and it's not completing the LIGHT phase properly. Check to see if you have an active pointfile. 2) You're using a dirt shader that has a q3map_nolightmap line. Try using a normal texture instead of a shader. Ockniel
OK, I'm using a "Yavin/dirt1_sprite" but I also have tried "Yavin/gravel" and "Yavin/grass". Im using gtkradiant to make the map but I'm running my bsp in jk2radiant. I'd put a screenshot here but I dont know how to put a picture in a thread. And the fire is for a torch in my map. Eldritch
You're mapping in GtK but compiling in Jk2 Radiant? Dear God WHY?!
GothiX
WHat have you been smoking? q3map2 >>>>>>>>>>>> SOF2MAP
Ockniel
when I compile with gtk it disregards all my lights and just lights everything up really bright but when I do it with jk2radiant it lights everything correctly. I forgot to list this: I want to know how to create a sky shader, can anybody tell me where a tutorial is? I'll put on a screenshot of the dirt if somebody will tell me how. lukeskywalker1
Yeah, my GTK does the same thing.
GothiX
Use q3map2toolz, gives better control of your compile anyway. And for a skybox tutorial, there's one right here..
