ckcsaber Posted October 8, 2003 Share Posted October 8, 2003 Regarding: "Serious Discussion" I understand the fact that a topic deemed "unserious" can be closed or moved to an off-topic forum, but what if a "serious" topic is posted in a off-topic forum? I have seen so called "serious" topics moved from The Swamp into the Senate Chambers for the same reason. Is this a rule? Are you NOT allowed to post a serious topic in an off-topic forum? Zoom Rabbit Posted October 10, 2003 Share Posted October 10, 2003 I've done serious topics in the Swamp...although they were on the silly side. Gotta remember who your audience is in a given forum. The only 99% serious topic I've ever done was at Aresen, the silly capital of the forums...and it did just fine. Of course, Aresen doesn't have a serious off-topic forum like the JK Series forums do, so it's hard to say with certainty it *wouldn't* get moved from the Swamp. Looks like you're in gray area. Surfnshannon Posted October 10, 2003 Share Posted October 10, 2003 I remember when there was a lot of people complaining in the swamp that their serious threads were getting maimed and destroyed by spam and people who were not taking their threads seriously. Also, they were tired of there thread being thrown to the bottom of the page. Hense, the senate chambers was born. Dammit! You just reasoned the Swamp out of existance altogether... Even if your thread gets moved from that forum, there's a blurb on the topics list saying where it went. You still get exposure to the audience you want. Thats true. But it also wards off any future "serious discussion" topics that are posted. The user, knowing it will be moved, will just go straight to the serious discussion section and not bother posting it in the off-topic. All I'm saying is let the thread creator decide where they want the thread placed. A "serious discussion" is still off-topic from the game which the forum is dedicated to, so the creator should be able to place it either in off-topic or serious discussion.
