Ernil
Ahoy. The message of this thread is plain and simple. I want a Monkey Island T-Shirt. Would it be illegal for someone like TSB or WOMI to make shirts for themselves, even if they mentioned Monkey Island? How about making and selling a plain Monkey Island Shirt? Anything? C'mon...? So, is it illegal?
Tahnee
Since MI is a registered trademark of LucasArts, I'm pretty sure that it'd be illegal. Believe me, there's nothing I wouldn't love more than to be able to sport my obsessions and get lots of strange looks...but I'm pretty sure that without LucasArt's explicit permission, it'd be totally illegal. Shivermetimbers
I think as long as you didn't sell them, you can put whatever you want on a shirt. If you were to start marketing them, however, it would be horribly illegal.
Remi
Yeah, what Shivermetimbers said. If you make it for yourself, personally, then it's not a problem. If a site like ours started marketing something like that without permission - free or not - that would not be ok.
Ernil
Dang. It could be secret. Eh. Not worth it. I can only wish.

Ernil
And on a similer note, how much would it be to purchase the rights to Monkey Island? Hopefully, no more than $22.57. That's all I've got. In all seriousness; hundreds? Millions?
Yufster
2 million, or they say they'll take part or full trade also. I have the patent for CDs and DVDs out in the garage, as well as some shares in coca cola, microsoft and double fine. That should do it.
Branik
The easiest way of getting an MI-themed T-shirt is to get one of those "textile transfer-sets" for your printer (only fairly new bubble jets). And you don't need any permits as long as the usage is limited to private.
Alia
Or you could get a plain white t-shirt, tie-dye it brown, burnt orange, and lime green, and write "I'm a three-headed monkey" on one of the sleeves and and something unprintable on the other. I think you should DEFINITELY do that.
Ernil
That was what I've been looking to buy since day 1. I just MADE it sound like I wanted a normal shirt.
