Ray Jones
aahh.. hmmm.. this explains some things. trying to browse with a new installed and/or (cookie)cleared browser that hasnt got the user cookie ended up at the login screen. makes sense so far as it saves bandwidth. Like I said before, its not saving that much bandwidth, because people join, just so they can read the forums, which takes up bandwidth...... Ray Jones
that's why i said "so far as it saves bandwith" .. the problem you point out is at hand. there maybe not much less users lurking (this maybe the point where it saves bw) and those who lurk register what of course cause needs more space. not to mention those "crappy" usernames.. IG-64
take a look at the birthdays on the main page, major amounts of ppl and they all have less than 10 posts, and maybe there can be a tool that boots a member if he has below 10 posts and hasn't shown up on the "users browsing this forum" in a long time

ExcelsioN
Originally posted by C Shutt Currently, you can't view the forums without being logged in. Presumably, this is a bandwidth-saving measure. Actually, you can. Sometimes when you recive an e-mail from the forums about a reply to a post and you click on the link without being previously logged in you can browse the forums. I just go and log in anyways, I guess its just a bug. There are tons of people with 0.0 posts. Sometimes its quite funny. There's the people who register to post and the ones who register to 'lurk'.
