Samus
First of all, I don't get any servers (ingame list), so I use the All-seeing Eye. I connect to a game and start playing, but that's not so easy. The player "hops" around everywhere. I can't control him. Everything is a mess. And I get messages like "connection interrupted". I don't get it. I have a good broadband connection.
StormHammer
List the servers by Ping...in the order of the lowest. Then try each server in turn, and see which one works best. Even with broadband a good ping is not assured on some servers. Just keep using trial and error to find one that works better for you... And just as a caveat...I've found that the Siege mode in particular is very sensitive to anyone having a high ping. Just one person with a ping of 999 will lag the entire server to a grinding halt. :/
FK | unnamed
do this: press shift+ ~ type: \cg_lagometer 1 you should see a steady green bar running across the bottom. if it is yellow or has mountain like spikes, you have packet loss. This is different than a "good ping/bad ping". Packet loss is when data too and from the server just does not make it. Hence you see people "warp" and you miss frames of animation. I have played on servers where I had a ping of 30 but had 50% packet loss.
lukeskywalker1
you need at least a 56 k to play. If you have a 56k like me, it will run ok, and you should get about 200-300 ping on an average server. On a good server you shoudl get maybe 150-200. in seige on an average server i had from 200-500 ping... but it was playable. The server didnt lag that much... the vehicles slowed it down a lil bit, but not a huge ammount So does that lagometer thingy really work? thats cool EDIT: If they are going to make a patch, they should fix the server list thingy, that was strange, i hate that you cant get all the servers in all seeing eye unless you register it... or something... Samus
Thanks for the help. OK, a little problem: Every server in the list (All-seeing Eye) has high ping (at least 900). What the heck is going on? I tried the lagometer thing, and it's yellow and green (mostly yellow), and there are huge spikes. I take it that means I've got packet loss. I get "connection interrupted" all the time, and there's a small icon of a network cable being plugged in in the lower right corner of the screen. And why don't I get anything in the ingame server list? (Yes, I'm searching for games on the internet, not local.) I want to play this game online! It looks like so much fun! What can I do? My computer is connected to a wireless home network, which has an internet connection at 768k/384k (in/out). My connection is plenty fast, so what is wrong? lukeskywalker1
Yeah, ive noticed the same thing in all seeing eye.. for some reason ill see like 9999 ping :-\ ummm, the in game browser doesnt work (something could be wrong with the master server, or the game needs fixing in that area) What are the other people's pings? I mean, your web is fast... It could just be the server. Make sure you dont have your options set up weird... you can set it to block out servers under 900 ping, which is something you dont want to do. Im thinking its the server, try a server with less people.. or one with no people just to see if it lags...
StormHammer
Sounds to me like there's a problem on your home network...not necesarily with the net connection, although that should not be ruled out. You can always ask for the 'line' to be checked to ensure there are no problems with it.
Samus
I've tried many servers now, and not one works. I get "connection interrupted" all the time. I found a game with ping as low as 82, but it was full. This is so frustrating!!! Not a very good first impression of online gaming (besides CS). By the way, my computer is the only one that's on and in use right now.
Sam Fisher
I have dual 64kb ISDN lines, and my usual ping is 20-200 on most servers. Unless its a Seige, then it goes way up.
Sjvegetto
it got be you connection or if you behind a network or somthing then it got be messed up cause i am behind a router and ASE show the pings to the server all under 100 except for a rare few
Kurgan
You could always try updating your network drivers.. and call the tech support for your ISP or network card, you never know they might have some tweaks for you. At least they could tell you if your connection is steady and if the settings are right for playing online games.
Samus
Forget it. It works now. I think there was some program running that took up a lot of bandwidth or something.

Hmm, I'm using a Linksys wireless router and I get that message all the time. What did you do to fix it...?
