StormHammer
Just to spread the word yet again...and preach the gospel of online MP goodness for one and all... Don't rely on the in-game server browser. It does not list all of the servers available out there for JA. Until a patch fixes this problem (if such a thing is possible), you might want to try out a 3rd party server-browser such as All Seeing Eye or QTracker. As I understand it Gamespy Arcade also lists far more servers to play on. The last time I tried the in-game server browser, it listed less than 30. ASE lists over 500. As you can see...that's about 6% of the true number of servers available. And just an FYI...I have recently been playing Return To Castle Wolfenstein online...and the in-game server browser for RTCW has the same problem. BJP3E
wow hmm ok wow yeah uhuh weird MP is 100 times diff the SP WAY to different the force for me anyway almost never had any affect it was hard to use ? was for me anyway I would attack someone with a gun and they would hardly be hurt if at all.... I played mostly against I assume bots and for a bit against a real player can't recall the name who well whooped my behind I did come out first aginast the bots though no matter how much I swung it did little and half the time the swings went through the bot with nill effect ??? still over all fun

Kurgan
Yeah eventually I think you'll come to like MP a lot (at least that's how it was for me). The control feels so much tighter and more precise (SP feels more "floaty" and random.. you hit a key and pretty animations happen, vs. hit button, get the right move every time). The guns feel stronger and more accurate (I can understand your difficulty in hitting stuff since you came from SP). Sabers seem weaker than they should be... that's because they're optimized for dueling. Play on servers with saberdamagescale 2 and they'll feel more "realistic." The fights are shorter but that just means you need to be more careful and defensive to go the distance.

Comm539
This is the random block and hit physics. Although if you used to own the bots you should still win, but with a bit less hp left than you used to have. It may also be lag (especiialy if you have a 56k). Maybe the bots are on JM AI setting and you used to play bots on an easier setting? Remember you're not fighting stormtroopers with like 10 hp here. Its real people who have equal hp as you. You have to anticipate their moves to dodge them and take advantage of them. To check if you're playing a bot, press tab. It'll display the scores and pings. Bots will have a zero ping (as they're run on the server), human players will have a ping of almost anything but zero (unless the server isn't dedicated, but then you'll notice its real laggy). BJP3E
only have a 56k but I realy never noticed major lag as I keep my seeting at a decent level I know I was playing mostly BOTS as they have goofy phrases when they kill ya. it was at a JM level but I would have though I would have benn equal still I mean I would use for push or pull and they would block it like times 9 times out of 10 and yet I get tossed around like a rag doll I could not do any moves other the a Kata wich though cool I feel just leave me open to attack. Or a jump attack. Its seemed alos that the only effective way I could get a kill in was to just use the basic forward slash. If it tried to fight in any organized fashion side slash, spins, thrusts I would be killed more often than if I just hacked away at them ........ well as is being said I need practice LOL guess I'll have to play with bots at the JM level for a few months LOL who ever it was that said this game a was noob freindly (i'n not a noob though) I think has nuts for brains (no offence) WOW I tried a JM BOT game oh boy did I get pounded, in a 30 minute game I did not get one fricken kill in JEEZE! IG-64
i tried MP, and i didn't really like it, it seems that people do things that you don't want them to do, and you can never kill them for it. i played JO MP and i had fun with that, i got good at it, got into a clan (or 2) and i had some fun. but it got old and i don't want to really waste my effort this time around. WOW I tried a JM BOT game oh boy did I get pounded i believe the correct online term is pasted j/k

You're 56k means you'll probably have a lot of lag. Use a server thats near to where you're connecting from (ie. if you're in england, dont join an australian server). Press tab and record your ping. If its anything over 150 max, then you'll have quite a lot of lag. As for noob friendly. It means that there are a lot less levels of skill and coordination than compared to JK2 (although still some), thus making it more accessable for new or unskillful players. If you're struggling with JA mp, then JK2 mp is much much harder. No offence but if you're struggling against bots well... Bots are no match compared to humans. You can literally be great against bots (after all they're uber predicatable as they follow the same routes) but really aweful when you come to play humans. Plus the fact the random physics don't healp, but if you can 'own' bots as you say, then you should still be able to easily kill them, but perhaps finish with a little less hp than normal. Kurgan
Without launching another flame war here, keep in mind the "n00b friendly" thing is NOT a universal belief in the community, and in fact many knowledable skilled players do NOT agree with it. So just keep that in mind while you're practicing. It's just an opinion, and your experience is your own. You just can't play MP the same way you played SP. UNLEARN what you have learned! And visit my strategy site for tips (see the link in my signature below). Good luck!
Bilirubin
Playing online is unlike any experience you will have in a sp game. There are folks out there who have been playing for years, and the only way to improve is to practice, take your beatings, and learn from them. Do NOT attach too much of your personal worth to geting beat, its a GAME. But learn from each, and improve. And on a 56K, you should "tweek" your game to maximize you exchange of info with the server. This includes setting the rate lower, dropping your visual quality (which eats up cycles--especially important if your modem is a Winmodem). It is possible to do very well on a modem, but you have to kno wyour ssytem very well, and learn how to anticipate what is going to happen rather than what you see on screen. Remember: your eyes can deceive you. Don't trust them. Bilirubin, aka. Cal-Gon Gin
Comm539
Hey he started the 'noob friendly' thing i just quoted him >.< Anyway, if you can find any 'good' player that doesn't think this game is simplified from JK2 then I'll give you a cookie
