|GG|Carl Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 What does this mean: WARNING: Hit per-surface style limit (4) When I compile my map, I get that message like 100 times per second!
Emon Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 You have more than four lightstyles hitting a surface.
|GG|Carl Posted December 7, 2003 Author Posted December 7, 2003 Oh... I thought it was pretty cool with all those lights:D So four is the limit then?
Emon Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Just per surface, you can have as many as you want as long as no more than four's rays hit a surface.
zag Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 hey sorry to bring old threads back to life but im getting this warning a few times during compile how does it affect my compile?
GothiX Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 It can phuck up your lightmap, basically. Don't have more than 4 lightstyles on a surface and you're fine.
WadeV1589 Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Only use lightstyles when you really really need them, don't just use them in excess 'cuz they look cool'....you'll regret it and so will the people who play the map and get crap FPS for no real reason. Oh yeah and if you have 2 lights near each other with the same lightstyles they count as one. Or if you want to turn lights on and off, call them the same targetname and they'll be counted as one lightstyle.
