Nichpo
Thirteen days til i get the game...ive been reading this section and i now have some questions: 1. Can you go back and do the sidequests after like in most RPGs? 2. Is becoming a Jedi part of the story line or do you have to do a sidequest to become one? 3. If the answer to question 2 is that you become a Jedi in the story line, is it better to become a Jedi at a low level? If so, what level do you suggest I become one at? Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer all these questions!! :p :p
eidospsogos
you will become a jedi, without sidequests. when you become one is totally up to you as far as levels are concerned. there are benefits to becoming one at lower levels, while there are benefits to wiating as well. i would suggest going to gamefaqs and reading the gameplay guide as they will go over what there is to gain and lose ihn each class by goin jedi at certain levels. i will post the link: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/file/star_wars_kotor_gameplay.txt this guide helped me immensely in choosing classes and when to change over to the jedi class based on what was important to me as far as gaining feats, skills and force powers. as far as sidequests, most can be completed at any time. but you will need to keep in mind that certain planets will be destroyed and thus if you do not complete it's sidequests before leaving you will never be able to complete them(taris and dantooine come to mind)

Nichpo
Ive got another question:D :D I heard a lot of talk about star maps...and that there are special crystals you can buy if u have them all. Well...can i get the starmaps at any point in the game or will they be on a planet that gets destroyed??? If there is a possibility that i miss out on getting some, please tell me! thx:)
eidospsogos
okay. i will say this while attempting to not spoil the game in anyway. star maps are crucial to advancing the plotline. they cannot be missed. so don't worry about that. Nichpo
I know this has nothing to do with anything but how do i put in a little picture under my name???
eidospsogos
uncanny dodge? it's really mainly a dexterity effecting feat that allows you to dodge attacks on your character more easily. it looks pretty cool to see your character dodging out of the way of sword swings and blaster bolts too. eidospsogos
the scout/guardian class was actually very comparable to the soldier/guardian class as far as stats go. you get a couple of less feats of course, but you gain the automatic implants and uncanny dodge. as well as more skill points. Nichpo
OK uh heres a question Is there a planet that you can genuinely call 'home' in the gam, maybe the first planet or somtin and u maybe have a house sorta like the mothership in PSO(dunno if anyones ever played that but its one of my favorite games ) Or is the Ebon Hawk your shall we say Winnibego type home one wheels? Burrie
I'd say that you can consider the Ebon Hawk to be your 'home' in the game. You start off with a small apparatment on Taris which serves as your home base at the start, but as soon as you get the Ebon Hawk, that's where you'll be staying whilst travelling to planets. Plus, it's also a fun place to talk with the NPCs.
Nichpo
Taris blows up and you lose your appartment, right?
Clemme w/Stick
Despite my worries about getting to lvl 20 long time before the end of the game, I was wrong. I reached lvl 20 just before Malak, or some place aboard the Star Forge 2nd Deck. What I'm trying to say is that it, I was pleased to see that reaching lvl 20 isnt something that happened too soon, and not too late. -Clemme
eidospsogos
that's funny. because on my third time through the game doing every sidequest i have come across on taris, dantooine, tatooine and korriban, as well as any character sidequests that have come up so far, including canderous' sidequest which i somehow missed the first two times through(think i still have juhani's, and i have just gotten jolee, and have to get a tach gland for mission's brother) so i still have to get through kashyyk, manaan, the leviathan, and the unknown world, and i think i only have 3 to 4 levels left to gain. (oh and the XP for the small sidequest that revolves around the yavin spacestation) so, from what i can tell, by the time i get done with the sidequests from kashyyk, which is where i am now, i'll probably hit 20 before even getting the last star map, or abducted by the leviathan. so really the only way to make sure you don't hit 20 before getting to the unknown world, is to do practically none of the sidequests. and that is frustrating considering that's really what makes these kind of games. Burrie
Mmm, I tried to do as many subquests as possible and reached Level 20 right after... Beating Bastilla for the first time on the Rakata temple. It was also exactly the same spot where my character reached the "Light Side Master". I can remember bitterly thinking 'So that's what it takes to become the most powerful Light Jedi ever? The loss of a good friend to the Dark Side?' eidospsogos
well, i admit that by my third time through i was quite sure i had missed a couple of sidequests. so i went to the bioware forums, because i was pretty sure i had missed at least the sidequests for juhani and canderous. and i had. but i'm talking about doing every sidequest. for example, you only really have to do maybe 2 or 3 of the sidequests on korriban to proceed to the final tomb with enough prestige(though there are at least 6 sidequest for gaining prestige). but i did EVERY sidequest, and kept the items from the ones i didn't claim as prestige. (not to mention there are 3-5 sidequests, or points that you gain xp merely from certain choices, before you ever enter the academy) this is just one planet as an example, and though i thought there were probably only sixty sidequests in this game i would say there are probably closer to 75-100. as some will complete but lead to others. it's just that one of the things that i've always done with rpg's is try to complete every sidequest possible. as this is probably one of the best aspects of the rpg game. but it is discouraging to know it's going to pump your levels up that fast. and your going to cap so quickly. OmegaGRiiM
I think it was a Good thing that they put a cap on it. I will admit at first I did blurt out some obscene choice words when I hit lvl 20, but after some thinking i realized, Malak is the Current Dark Lord of the Sith and not to mention his Grip on the Dark power of a Certain ancient Object. How Convincing would the story be if you go to fight Malak and you kill him in one hit because your lvl is so high it's impossible for a d20 roll to even stop you. Now i played through the Xbox version on hard and even with the best equipment available and all three of my active fighters at lvl 20, I've still been killed by packs of enemies. I find it good for the storyline (which we all know is one of the biggest factors in this game being one of the best out right now) when your team can be killed off by a pack of 5 Dark Jedi, 3 heavy sith troopers, and a bunch of Cannons lining the room. I might have hated it at first, but then i liked it knowing that i wouldn't want to play through again if i knew i could lvl up and run through enemies without a worry of dying. Difficulty Factor, Story, and the MUST of planning out your Feats and Jedi powers every time through the game are what keep me playing it over and over again.
