Okay, I screwed something up real bad in JA.

I was messing around with mods in my base folder, and when I tried to start the game, I started getting error messages without it bringing up the launcher. After a few frustrating hours of an uninstall and a few system restores, the problem has gotten worse. Now, instead of simply not even bringing up the launcher, I can't even uninstall it to get it off my system and start over.

So, in a last ditch attempt, I went back to my Base folder and found the reason that I am having trouble. My pk3s are gone. I don't know how, or why, but all of the game files except for jaconfig.cfg, jampconfig.cfg, and uix86.dll are all missing. Since my disk will not even access because of an error message, I cannot reinstall the game and get back my Base files.

SO, is there any way that I can get ahold of my missing files and paste them back into my Base folder, so my game will work again?

Because somehow, they are completely gone from my system.

Any help would be great.

I believe that is because when you install, the game writes in the registry, and the uninstall removes the entry from the registry. I think uninstall stops once it finds even one file that is not there. But that would be if you could call up the autostart menu.

That's because the JediAcademy executable file is missing. When you put in the disk, it calls upon that executable file and gives the menu, but it's gone. The solution is to copy it (using the folder options and junk) from the disk to the hard drive, exactly where it was and open it and uninstall.

If the previous help doesn't work, then copy and paste all the files from the disk the way they are (both disks).

Try the disc on another computer to see if it's really broken.

If the disc is getting read errors, try cleaning it with a cd cleaning kit. That will work most of the time.

I'd say reformating your system would fix everything but that's a lot to ask just for one game, so let that be a last resort (after a full backup of course).

Ideally just clean the disc, remove every trace of the game from your system and then reinstall in a fresh directory and apply the official patch.

I assume you own the actual game of course, and you can't assume somebody can just send you a few hundred megs of files anyway, so that isn't an option (and remember our rules!).

Thanks for all the help guys. Well, after another hour or so, I finally was able to crack open the disk through my file search thing on my computer, found all the missing pk3s and pasted them back in the base directory. That got the disk responding and allowed me to uninstall it properly. After I cleaned all things jedi academy off my system, I reinstalled it, and it is now working properly.

yes, bought and paid for. I'm not some scum who steals games and hikes the prices for everyone else who legitimately buys it. I am just brand new to mods and somehow dumped my pk3s out of my base on the hard drive. Fortunately, they were still on the game disks, and I was able to recover them after a lot of searching.

So, I didn't have to reformat my HD, or buy a new game or anything and all is well.

Thanks again.
