Gukkjo Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 was browsing and noticed this screenshot. thought y'all would like to see it if you haven't already. Nice explosion, and for you who wanted people to go flying, there you go
Pnut_Man Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 A nice explosion, indeed... And if i'm correct, is that ragdoll physics applied to the airborne Rebel Corpse ?
slapshot16 Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 A very nice explosion... can't wait to see it in real-time. and the ragdoll physics are very very very nice. bodies flying through the air is awesome.
Woad Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 I'm so worried about Ragdoll, games where the model stays rooted in place and collapses using the physics are fine looking (Like Rainbow Six 3) but it just looks silly in sone games (Like Hitman). I really don't want to see a model bouncing and rolling backwards from a couple blaster shots...
slapshot16 Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Well yeah of course but that is an explosion... So it's gonna knock you back a bit.
Eagle Warrior Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 who here thinks if there will be a series of explosions like one thing explodes and it hits anoter and it explodies and so on. also the debris form the exploded object will it put the grouwn on fire or something like a forest fire (very unlikly but realistic)
Gukkjo Posted April 19, 2004 Author Posted April 19, 2004 hmm, good questions. I think a chain of explosions would be cool. I don't think that you can start a forest fire, however.
Woad Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 Yeah I wasn't referring to this specific pic as far as my concerns about ragdoll, just made me think about it. Also, concerning chain reactions: Im sure explosions will have some kind of area damage which could, if they were close enough, kill unlucky soldiers or destroy other nearby vehicles. Would certainly look pretty darn cool.
slapshot16 Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Yeah splash damage should be included to add to realism. If there is no splash damage you could charge an at-st and blow it without getting hurt.
Woad Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Splash damage! That's the phrase I couldn't think of.
Deeo Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Splash damage? Hahaha. Imagine the damage done by an exploding AT-AT in Battlefront. Yeah, a chain of explosions is most likely as well. One huge explosion is rather dull, IMO.
Evil Dark Jedi Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Nice explosion and good dead soldier flying through the air
Deeo Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 More likely several dead soldiers flying through the air maybe depending if the AT-AT was ferrying any troops at the moment of its destruction.
Darth_Ak4t7 Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Seeing people fly through the air screaming is somtimes the best part of a game:p :D
Alegis Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 bodies flying is aweesome, the ultimate example is the game "armed and dangerous", when you'd blow something from a distance you'll see people flying sky high and dropping right in front of your feet, it's awesome and hilarious at the same time What really would be awesome is that when they fly out the vehicles they hit the trees and drop
Darth_Ak4t7 Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 yea, just like in episode 6 where that one scout trooper hit the tree once he fell off his swoop bike

They have to make sure the joints give the appropriate amount of resistence from moving in this or that direction.

In some games ragdoll just looks silly, because they didn't place the appropriate constraints on the joints, and the spinal cord etc. In UT2K3 the OTT ragdoll can be fun, but in other games it looks out of place. I'd like to see better constraint in Battlefront to give it a more realistic feel.
joesdomain Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 I would like to see some action via a flythrough or gameplay or even a screenshot of an at-at walker. I think most original trilogy vehicles shown have been speeder bikes and at-st walkers.
Eagle Warrior Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 i agree i want action not just flythroughts and picture like another 5 minute tralier
tFighterPilot Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 I want any flyouts, anything! Damn you LucasArts\Panemic Studios, DAMN YOU!
Eagle Warrior Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 all you have to do is dont look for updates for 1 month then get on and you will ahve a lot of stuff to look at:D
Isair Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 Hasn't it already been well over a month since thier last update? I honestly can't wait till thier next.
Eagle Warrior Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 yes i am angry:mad: very angry:mad: actually i am
Revlt Coranier Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Awesome explosion, but There is nothing in between an AT-ST's legs to explode. I think the head should explode, not the space between the legs. But it's still awesome looking.
