depends. Most geometric models aren't as taxing on resources as biomorphic models meaning vehicles usually have fewer polys than a player model. Now the vegatation and environmental models and effects could tip the scale. Those cool explosions, water reflections and fog will probably be the most performance effecting. Another issue will be all the blaster bolts. Imagine a battle with 32+ players all firing at once, unlike some games where the bullet isn't drawn but the computers just have track their effects versus a game where every single shot is drawn. I'm talking bullets versus blaster fire. Granted all this is just visual performance. Not knowing anything about their approaches to a net code orhow they'll handle connections and ingame chat I can't imagine what will effect online game play.

I always used to play Battlefield with only a 56K and it worked great, even on 64 player servers. Then they released the last patch and that was it. I can't play for more than five minutes before I get the connection problems detected and it disconnects me.

Perhaps by the time this is out I'll have broadband.

Lag will be of little problem because this game is BROADBAND only. Read the official FAQ and it clearly states that all versions require a broadband connection. Sorry 56kersm but I think that they're the only ones effected. I got broadband just for this game, but I hope its good enough because bad net codes could even bog down my cable internet.
