Just so 2 minutes after joining a server you kill some one with a rifle and then read "Knife fights only!!!". Watching knife fights is like watching cross eyed retards with wiffle ball bats trying to play Pinata. I see knife fights and can instantly imagine the player at the other end of the server, disgusted I usually leave. (after I kill both of the combatants for stupidity) How about a realistic and useful melee weapon? Run out of ammo for any weapon and it becomes a melee weapon. Blaster pistols = pistol whippings. Other weapons = butt strokes. It only happens when you're out of ammo though. Then there wouldn't be the magical bottomless ammo magazine for the pistol too.

It won't be used much, but soldiers do have knives both in the real world and the Star Wars universe (where they are called vibroblades).

Knives are used in the army mainly as a tool, not a weapon, and in star wars, you dont really hear too muich about the soldiers, but in the movies, you didnt see a vibro on the battlefield. I'm with Havoc, using your gun is more ideal. Like in Freedom Fighters, if you played it. You cas use ur gun to beat people in close range.

If you feel that the devs should waste time making some pointless weapon that won't help the game in anyway, be my guest. I feel they should spend that time making the game more polished before release. Sorry, I just said what any Star Wars fan would have done.

I think I can live with that, even though I don't know what quote your talking about. Getting back on topic, the knifes are out in most cases, or else they would be listed under some of the units. You guys better hope that the fusion cutter for the pilot does damage, I can see the fusion cutter fights now. I can name other reasons why the knife wouldn't be too useful and reasons why it can even get in the way. But I hope you can do some sort of melee attack, even if that's rolling over the guy to knock him down (although that could lead to laming of great perportions).

joesdomain Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Why should we have a knife in a game? This is a futuristic sci-fiction game with lasers, blasters, etc. A blaster would probably fry a steel knife.

joesdomain Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 That is good that the blaster pistol has unlimited ammo. I would hate to run out of ammo and have to run around getting my butt kicked by the enemy trying to find ammo.
