It's just not fair!

Far be it for me to rant and rave when something goes wrong in my life (I'd never stop), but for some stupid reason, I thought it would be a good idea to get up and rush over to the TV set as soon as possible to turn the speakers off as the transition from DVD to normal TV can usually be pretty loud and speakers don't help.

Not usually a problem, except this time, I happened to have my laptop, open, on a small table right in front of me. I did not move the table far enough and knocked it as I rushed past, causing the laptop to fall off the table and land on it's back. Luckily enough, the table wasn't that high at all and nothing went wrong at all for my laptop.

I really wish I could say the same about my 128mb MP3 player sticking out of the back of it charging.

Now a number of things occur to me. First of all, there was really no reason for me to rush, it was a stupid idea I had that I would heroically switch the speakers off before the big sound came, when, with no one in the house, it really wouldn't have made much of a difference (and not even getting there in time, it turned out, it didn't).

Second of all, Im meant to leave the MP3 player charging for about 4 hours, and this is about 3 more hours on top of that which is when this happened, so there was really no reason for it to be there apart from me forgetting and of course, this thing in my head telling me that having it in there any longer won't really make much difference (oh the irony). And thirdly, I really didn't need for the laptop to be right on the edge of the table anyway, I just wanted more space for the graphics tablet i could have very easily held in my hand (I realise now, how much I'm bragging about my expensive posessions... that's all).

Anyway, the USB plug thingie on the player got all bent out of shape and it simply won't work now (I got real worried when it started heating up really fast and wouldn't stop, I had to put it in the freezer, at which point my mother came home, so out it came before she knew, the heat subsided).

And of course, accidental damage is not covered in it's warrenty and Philip's web pages are down, so I don't know how much it may cost to get it repaired (or whether I can or not)

Saying that, can anyone tell me of a really good, but cheap (downwards of £70, can buy off engilsh internet sites if need be) MP3 player. It doesn't have to be Gigabytes big, my old one (wow, acceptance of this fact came fast considering I broke it less than an hour ago) only had 128 Mb's and I'll settle for that (not 64mb, too little) but if you guys can find better for a good price, i'd like to hear it.

I'm currently wondering whether I should get this one. Give me you're opinion.

Peace

Joshi

P.S.

According to a reveiwer, my old one was set to break down anyway at some point, it may not mean much to you, but considering it was a birthday present, it fills me with a load of relief, even if it wasn't true.

P.P.S.

I have no money, but I''ve recently been doing loads of overtime at work and will be getting paid next Tuesday, you have till then to come up with some ideas, or I'm going for that one above.
